#UPDATE: Major breakthrough in Chandigarh murder case
Punjab AGTF has arrested both accused linked to the killing of Charanpreet Singh from Kaithal.
The accused have been identified as Rajan alias Piyush Pehalwan, a resident of Ferozepur, and Pritam Shah from Nawanshahr. Rajan had reportedly entered India illegally via Nepal after staying in Malaysia.
Both have multiple criminal cases registered against them. During the operation, the accused opened fire while attempting to flee, and were injured in retaliatory police action.They have been taken into custody, and the motorcycle and weapons used in the crime have been recovered.

A property dealer, Charanpreet Singh (31) from Mullanpur, was shot dead in Chandigarh’s Sector 9 on Wednesday. He was getting into his Scorpio after leaving a gym when bike-borne attackers opened fire, shooting around 8 rounds. He collapsed in the driver’s seat after being hit.The incident occurred just minutes away from the Chandigarh Administration and SSP office. Sources say he had received threats earlier.

I doubt if any other agricultural land in the world has such huge number of tubewells per sq km as seen in Punjab. This has actually made us complacent to the need and importance of the river waters for the future of our #Punjab

@lavdeep Punjab must be the only region in the world where Govt has allotted the Tubewell connections even in the river beds of Punjab.

ਹਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤੀ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਲੋੜ ਵੀ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਾਇਦਾ ਵੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਟੋਏ, ਟਿੱਬੇ, ਟਿੱਲੇ, ਨੈੜੀਆਂ, ਚੋਅ, ਬੇਲੇ ਤੇ ਉੱਚੇ-ਨੀਵੇਂ ਖੇਤ ਸਭ ਖਤਮ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਸਿੰਚਾਈ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕਰਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਦਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੈਡ ਤੇ ਬੇਟ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਆਪ ਵੇਚੀ। ਕਣਕ-ਝੋਨੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਬਾਜਰੇ, ਗੁਆਰ, ਛੋਲੇ ਆਦਿ ਦੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਵੀ ਘੱਟ ਗਈ।

ਕਲਰਾ ਪਿੰਡ (ਖਾਲੜਾ), ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਏ, ਪਰ ਇਸਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਅੱਜ ਪੂਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਜਾਣਦੀ ਏ ਭਾਈ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਾਲੜਾ ਕਰਕੇ।
ਭਾਈ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ 1952 ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੰਮੇ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਂਕ ਦੇ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਸਨ, ਸਾਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ, ਪਰ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਚ ਤੇ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਸੀ। 80-90 ਦੇ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਗੁੰਮ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, ਫੇਕ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਲਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੜਾਈਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਉਹ ਚੁੱਪ ਨਾ ਰਹਿ ਸਕੇ।
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਸਕਾਰ ਘਾਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਖੰਗਾਲੇ ਤੇ ਪਤਾ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਲਗਭਗ 25 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਸੜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਸੱਚ ਪ੍ਰੈੱਸ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਚੁੱਭਿਆ। 6 ਸਤੰਬਰ 1995 ਨੂੰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਘਰੋਂ ਅਗਵਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਤਸੀਹੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਤੇ ਕਤਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀਬੀਆਈ ਜਾਂਚ ਤੇ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ 6 ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਫਸਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ, ਪਰ ਭਾਈ ਖਾਲੜਾ ਵਾਪਸ ਤਾਂ ਨਾ ਆਏ।
ਖਾਲੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਏ, ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਿੰਡ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲਣ ਦੀ ਹਿੰਮਤ ਤੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਏ। ਭਾਈ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਅੱਤਿਆਚਾਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਬੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਣਾ।
