The @NWBearcat_FB program had 56 student-athletes honored by the MIAA for their effort in the classroom. Six Bearcats (Andrew Dumas, Jake Fisher, Hayden Jay, John Niesen, Jake Winslow and Holden Zigmant) earned the distinguished Academic Excellence Award. The MIAA honored 24 student-athletes with the Academic Excellence Award in football. An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 4.00 or better at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. Northwest had seven student-athletes gain MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors in Dumas, Shane Fredrickson, Fisher, Langden Kitchen, Luke Mathews, Clayton Power and Winslow. To earn the MIAA Scholar-Athlete award, student-athletes must post at least a 3.5 GPA and have earned all-MIAA honors. The MIAA honored 33 student-athletes with the Scholar-Athlete Award in football. The achievement of Academic Honor Roll was accomplished by 56 Bearcat football performers. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
