Ophthalmology

I have to sit for two more boards 😭😭😭 My supervisor asked me to check on my teaching license application status. It’s not finished processing because they want TWO more boards (WEST-B & SPED).

I’ve spent $300 on edTPA, $180 on PRAXIS, $270 on NES exams. That’s not including the license fees I’ve had to pay (close to another $300). Why is becoming a teacher in my field so expensive? 😭

This means that I took PRAXIS and did EdTPA to meet my university requirements. Then I took an NES to fulfill the Vision Teaching endorsement (new this year) & have to take two more for my SPED endorsement for an initial license good for 18 months.

@acweyand For people curious about 15,000 days: -it’s 41 years old +35 days. For 20,000 days: -54 years and 290 days (9 months 20 days (ish))

I need some tech support. We want to get Mia an iPad because they released an update that supports eye tracking, and based on her recent progress in speech therapy, we're hopeful that she can learn to use the iPad's eye gaze feature as a way to communicate. But I know nothing about iPads. We want one large enough to easily engage with (and provide more room for the eye to wander), and we also know we'll need to get a heavy duty case. It needs to stream easily and be pretty decent at processing. I have no idea what the base level of competency is in these models, so I just have no sense of how much of an investment we should make in this. Any advice?

Some of you came into my story when I was a dog groomer, this year, I became a server/bartender. But my interview tomorrow doesn't have to do with either of those things. For over 20 years I worked in various nonprofit & churches. I traveled a lot and wrote grants.
