After an emotive meeting with members today, their final position is clear. Cardiff Central rank is essential for the public & providing a living wage for drivers. The rationale given is inconsistent and concerning. The rank must remain unaltered. Our members will not be moved.

Also today, we responded positively to a request from @HackneyCardiff to increase Taxi fares in the city, the first such rise in 4 years, recognising the huge additional costs Taxi drivers are now having to shoulder. Pending consultation, the fare rises will take effect on Sep 1

Great to have held the first Public Cabinet of the new @cardiffcouncil administration today. In early July we'll be launching our Programme for Government for the next 5 years, but ahead of that there were decisions relating to the Cost of Living crisis we wanted to take now.

Another donation was made today for #foodbanks from the Taxi & PH community, this time it was given to @CardiffFoodbank. Thanks to @huwthomas_Wales @normam123 and @2000jama for being present to hand the check over.

Today, workers from the #Cardiff taxi trade handed over a huge donation to the @CardiffFoodbank. An incredibly kind gesture from a group of workers, who, despite seeing their incomes plummet during the pandemic, felt the need to help the most vulnerable people in our society.

🚨 @alikhlascec food bank received £3,000 in donations from #Cardiff #taxi drivers. @UniteWales 🚨🚕 They say they are incredibly grateful for the funding as demand for food parcels at the centre has surged from 30 parcels a week to up to 200 during the height of the pandemic.
