We're not praising Snuggerud enough Holloway deserves that Kyrou contract That's the top line of the future I do think it's important that the team moves on from Kyrou. This is who he is. I feel we already drafted his replacement

@kylejahner We could define tank as whatever we want it to be. The simplest we could put this is, the best teams have the best players and the best players are found at the top of the draft. If the Blues want to be one of the best teams they have to draft where the best players are.

@HaggertyU Oh you found a meme, I'm devastated. You still ignore that loosely defining "tank" as mult top 5 picks in prior 12 years (to rope in TB) = most (& so likey most Cup winners) tanked. *20 teams* had multiple T-5 picks the last 12 years. So even at random, 2/3 Cups go to tankers.

@HaggertyU Also netting those top guys and building around it for nearly a decade of NOT getting top picks before any Cups requires incredible management that's rarer than the picks.

Ive started to click into draft mode for the Blackhawks. Assuming they arent picking in the top 2 & assuming they wont throw in the towel on Lev/Rinzel, & assuming they don't trade the pick...I am very intrigued by Carson Carels. Farm boy. Mean streak. Left shot. Well rounded

@BarstoolChief Sounds like the stereotypes of all the other bad draft picks the Hawks have recently made.

@STLBluesChirp You are correct in that it’s not even close between the two. Kyrou clears easily.

#CBJ forward Kent Johnson is a healthy scratch today. Head coach Rick Bowness said he watched some tape of Kent Johnson's offensive production from a year ago, but "in the 12 games that I've been here or whatever it's been, I haven't seen (that), I need to see that. "I showed him a couple of other things he's got to improve on. Listen, he's a big part of the future of the team. This isn't, 'We're gonna sit you up for the next month.' It's just, 'Take a look at the game. Sometimes there's a little bit more room out there than you realize when you're on the ice, the pace of the game. We're not down on you, (but) we gotta make some changes.'"

@mark_scheig the underlying metrics say KJ was one of the best skaters vs CAR meanwhile Jenner, Monahan, Garland was the worst line by far. The tough talk means nothing because Kent isn't the problem. Man...

Based on these lines, Kent Johnson appears he will be a healthy scratch. #CBJ

@HaggertyU @ArtLippo2 @twelcher15 You don't get that choice. Your choice is "maybe Sharks or also maybe Hawks, Canadiens, Devils, Sens, Jackets, Sabres." Sure you may prefer some of those but not all, & "Compete w/o tanking" includes teams like Hurricanes, Lightning, Panthers, Stars, Wild.

@HaggertyU @ArtLippo2 @twelcher15 I reject the premise, a false dichotomy where only choices are one team's specific path and tanking in general. Meaningless comp. Q is whether tanking or competing is a more viable path to competitiveness. Tanking=guaranteed misery for "maybe great? But still probably mid/worse"

@HaggertyU @WeWentBIues @ArtLippo2 @twelcher15 And the Oilers have NOTHING to show for it. Because their roster has holes that they don’t fill. You know what wins Cups? Goaltending. The Kings won the Cup twice squarely on the back of Jonathan Quick. The Bolts don’t win 2 without Vasilevskyy. Florida? Bobrovsky. Oilers? Pfft.

@fabbrishair You could argue the last 3 first overall picks are “generational” The Blues decided they didn’t want to go that route.

@HaggertyU @twelcher15 Patrick Kane is a generational talent (that felt dirty). Not every first overall pick will be like that. Most are very good but Kane isn’t a fair comparison here.

@kylejahner @ArtLippo2 @twelcher15 The idea isn’t that tanking has a 100% success rate, the idea is that tanking has a higher success rate than whatever it is the Blues have done the past 5 years.

@HaggertyU @ArtLippo2 @twelcher15 For every successful (also long & painful) tank job, plenty fail. (EDM failed for a while too, & still no cup.) Avs have only recent Cup I'd call a true tank-job. TB/FLA had a couple great top-5 picks but not much else tracing to a long, concerted tank.
