My freshman season ended last night in the second round of state playoffs against the #1 team. Loosing 5-1. I learned a ton this season, made new friends, and will carry memories with me forever! Had a few days before states, so got quality work in at home. Focused on attacking outside pitches, staying on top, and refining throwing mechanics. Finished our varsity regular season last week. Of our 23 regular season games, I pitched in 21 of them with 19 starts as a freshman. I also pitched 12 complete games. We played several teams ranked top 25 in the state with numerous college commits. This season gave me opportunities to grow in so many ways mentally and physically. In the eighth inning of a scoreless game, with one out and two strikes, I hit a hard ground ball up the middle to get on bag. Stole 2 and next batter hits a single and my coach sends me home to score! 😅 I noticed that my shortstop was out of position, so I ran over for the throw in and gunned it home for the tag out! We ended the night 2-0 against a really good team, South Iredell. What a nail biter of a night! Going back and forth for several innings we finally got the win in the 12th inning! I landed one off the top of the fence with a 2 strike count and 2 outs. Next batter was walked, and an error in the outfield drove us both in for the win! Tonight didn’t go in our favor but it was nice to see old friends! Looking forward to tomorrow, as it will be the 3rd game this week and warmer weather!
