Our new paper is finally out, showing that the same enhancer sequences - and likely the same transcription factors recruited to them - affect the activity of distal enhancers and their looping over to target gene promoters. nature.com/articles/s4146…

What is the function of the elongate tail in elasmobranch #rays? A new hypothesis with @YuliaChaumel in @royalsociety Proceedings B (shorturl.at/PmfYD) shows that the tail of cownose rays (and a few other species studied so far) has an elaborate lateral line.

How to test the functional impact of noncoding variants in vivo? Happy to share our work led by @ewholling where we developed dual-enSERT, a new method that enables rapid, quantitative comparison of human enhancer variant activities in live mice. Check this Tweetorial for details
Ethan Hollingsworth@ewholling

Much of human disease-linked variation maps to regulatory regions. Yet, our ability to test the effects of these noncoding variants remains limited. In our new @biorxiv preprint, we asked if we could begin to chip away at this bottleneck: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 1/

In this review, @gracecbower & I discuss recent evidence showing that, unlike canonical enhancers, long-range enhancers located hundreds of kb from their target genes rely on additional mechanisms to ensure robust gene activation during mammal development sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

📡🧵 Excited to release two #bioRxiv preprints! The first preprint is: "Zebrahub-Multiome: Uncovering Gene Regulatory Network Dynamics During Zebrafish Embryogenesis" doi.org/10.1101/2024.1… We present a comprehensive time-resolved single-cell multiomic atlas of zebrafish development. Integrating scATAC-seq and scRNA-seq from 94,000+ cells, we map gene regulatory networks across six key stages of embryogenesis (10 to 24 hpf). A major accomplishment by @yangjoonkim co-led by @Merlin_Lange with experiments by @Shruthi94Vijay #Zebrahub-Multiome is a sequel to zebrahub.org, our transcriptomic and imaging atlas of zebrafish development. #zebrafish #development #ATACseq #cell #biology #sequencing @czbiohub #CZBiohubSF @cziscience Note: We sent two preprints simultaneously yesterday, and this is the first one to come out... I will append to this thread when the second one is out...
