Watch this from @DrSteveTaylor - give him a follow too 👍 ➡️ There aren't enough GPs ➡️ Since 2015 we've lost 2,000 GPs ➡️ Funding since 2015 has reduced 10-12% ➡️ More people, fewer GPs ▶️ This is a problem the Tory gov have made ◀️ ➡️ In 2015, Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said there would be 5,000 more GPs in 2020. There weren't ➡️ In 2019 Health Secretary Matt Hancock said there would be 6,000 more GPs by now. There aren't ➡️ The current Tory government (video was filmed in June 2024) said there are 2,000 more GPs. That's not true. There are 2,000 less So the Conservative government kept saying they'd hire more GPs, they didn't. On top of this the new GP contract means that GP practices are underfunded. This is how the Conservative government destroyed NHS dentistry, and they've tried to destroy NHS GP practices as well I don't envy Labour needing to find a way to fix this, but if Labour don't address the GP crisis amongst the wider NHS crisis, healthcare in our country will diminish even further and the cost of fixing problems cause by problems caused by a lack of healthcare will be even more costly
