I refused to let a woman with just one item skip the supermarket queue today. And people started looking at me like I was wicked 😭😭 😭 💔 💔 💔 😭 😭 😭 She walked past six exhausted people holding just one loaf of bread like that automatically made her special. My sister whispered, "Please just let her pass." But after standing there for almost 30 minutes? Absolutely not. I smiled and stayed where I was. The woman looked shocked that I said no and said, "Auntie please, my driver is outside." "Madam, we all have places to be," I replied calmly. Did she really think she could force her item into my items without asking me? I didn’t argue. Nor did I raised my voice. I simply looked at the cashier and said, "Wow, she’s paying for my whole cart to? That’s so kind of you, Ma!" Then I started bringing out the expensive items from my trolley. Imported cereal, Juice cartons and two bottles of wine. The woman’s face changed instantly. Before the cashier could scan anything, she grabbed her bread & quietly marched straight to the very back of the queue. Peace returned immediately. Some people carry audacity like it’s a personality trait. Question for the timeline: Be honest, would you have let her pass? And what would you have done if she tried adding her item to your bill?

Twelve years, a man with no political history in Surulere, no grassroots structure of his own,with no independently verifiable constituency record, sustained entirely by one man’s political goodwill and name recognition borrowed from Nollywood. The Surulere Accountability Front described Elliott’s 11 years in office as a wasted opportunity marked by underperformance, detachment from grassroots realities, character deficiency, and overreliance on the record of others. This is the same Desmond Elliott who stood on the floor of the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2020 during the EndSARS protests and told young Nigerians, the same generation that voted, marched, and bled for a better country, that they had been influenced by “the way they see things on social media” and that social media was “becoming a problem.” He told grieving, traumatised young people who had just watched their peers get shot at Lekki Toll Gate that the internet was corrupting their sense of reality. Now Gbajabiamila has withdrawn his backing because Desmond can gossip and back bite. He has quietly identified and begun grooming a replacement, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, former Special Adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Housing. The godfather has moved on and the man who spent twelve years in office without building his own structure is suddenly exposed. Elliott’s response? He picked up his nomination form and publicly begged. “Our leader is a compassionate leader. Children sometimes err. If I have erred in any way, my leader, I am sorry. Give me another chance”. A sitting lawmaker with twelve years in office. Publicly begging his godfather for permission to continue on camera and in front of journalists. Tinubu himself rejected lobbying for Elliott’s fourth term, declining to impose him on Surulere against Gbajabiamila’s wishes. The man who helped put him in cannot get even Tinubu to save him now.
