I shed tears of pain two weeks ago, the first time this year. I do not recall crying last year.
My good friend and colleague, Justice John (@legalbreed01), lost his wife, Mrs. Akudo Lovelyn John, in a very questionable circumstance.
I attended their civil wedding a year ago, precisely on Wednesday, 18th December, 2024.
Justice and I have been good friends since we met in the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus.
My friend, Justice, is seeking justice.
Below is the personal account of the tragic death as written by Justice .
THE AGONY OF LOSING MY BELOVED AND NEWLY WEDDED WIFE AT GYNESCOPE SPECIALIST HOSPITAL, LEKKI
My wife went to Gynescope Specialist Hospital, Lekki for childbirth and died from mismanaged Primary Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH). The same hospital where she registered and had her antenatal care without any underlying illness.
In her third trimester, during one of the antenatal visits, the Consultant and attending doctor, Dr. Joseph Aliyu Yahaya, disclosed the considerable size of the baby. We raised concerns regarding safe delivery options and the possibility of an elective Cesarean Section (CS) owing to the fetal size. The Consultant dismissed CS and insisted on SVD.
On Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, my wife went into labour. The Consultant performed episiotomy on my her, and our baby was delivered weighing 4.2KG. Immediately after delivery, the consultant left the labour ward and my wife’s episiorrhaphy was done by his subordinate.
My wife complained of a dripping sensation inside her body. After observation, the Consultant noted that the vulva was unusually swollen and the sutures were too tight. The Consultant re-sutured her. After this second procedure, my wife looked lifeless, pale, and unconscious for hours, while the bleeding continued unabated.
The Consultant confirmed she was bleeding internally yet took no active steps in referring or seeking specialist help outside the primary facility. There was a clear 15-hour window between the delivery of our baby and my wife’s eventual passing. Blood transfusion was done without first identifying and repairing the source of bleeding.
At about 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, 4th December 2025, my wife complained of discomfort and began convulsing. It is important to note that at this critical moment, no medical personnel were in sight. Minutes after I screamed for help, doctors and nurses arrived from the ground floor. There was notably no oxygen in the ward where my wife was admitted. At this time, I requested for a transfer of my wife to another facility, but the Consultant said no facility would accept her without a pulse. Minutes later, the Consultant then agreed for her to be moved.
MY OBSERVATIONS DURING THE EVACUATION OF MY WIFE
Firstly, the Hospital brought a stretcher without side guards or straps to evacuate my wife. While moving her, she fell off the stretcher onto the hard floor of the tiled walkway on the 3rd floor. (I have challenged the Hospital to release the undoctored CCTV footage of the 3rd floor showing when my wife was being stretched out in the early hours of Thursday, 4th December 2025). I rushed to help lift her back up. The staff seemed confused about whether to use the stairs or elevator, thereby wasting valuable time during such an emergency.
Secondly, upon reaching the ground floor, I expected the ambulance to be positioned at the entrance of the hospital door, ready to receive her. Sadly, the ambulance was stationed about 80 metres away, still covered in a tarpaulin showing no readiness. Only then was the cover removed. When I asked the driver to open the ambulance, I heard the most shocking thing - the keys were with Human Resources (HR) Manager. It took considerable time to retrieve the keys. When the driver finally opened the bus, he stated he needed to connect the battery. Throughout this chaos, my wife lay in the open on a stretcher, unattended and without oxygen.

🧬 CASTLEMAN DISEASE – HYALINE-VASCULAR VARIANT (UCD-HV): WHAT EVERY PATHOLOGIST SHOULD KNOW
The unicentric hyaline-vascular variant of Castleman disease (UCD-HV) is the most common and typically benign form of this heterogeneous group of lymphoproliferative disorders. Despite its indolent nature, its morphology can mimic lymphomas and follicular dendritic cell (FDC) neoplasms, requiring diagnostic vigilance.
🔬 CLASSIC HISTOMORPHOLOGY
Atrophic lymphoid follicles with hypocellular germinal centers
Penetration of hyalinized capillaries into germinal centers (“lollipop” structures)
Expanded mantle zones with concentric layering (“onion-skin” pattern)
Marked interfollicular vascular proliferation
Occasional nuclear atypia in FDCs, though without proven malignant potential
🧪 IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY
CD21, CD23, and CD35 highlight the FDC meshwork
CD20 and CD3 delineate B- and T-cell zones
Ki-67 shows low proliferative index within follicles
No aberrant expression of BCL2, CD30, or ALK
🧍♀️ CLINICAL DATA (Nishimura et al., Diagnostics, 2021)
Female predominance, mean age: 42 years
Most common sites: mediastinum, retroperitoneum, cervical region
Clinically silent or compressive mass effect
Complete surgical excision was curative in all cases
Excellent prognosis: 100% survival, no recurrences
🔍 DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS
Key entities to consider include:
Sclerosing follicular lymphoma: BCL2+ germinal centers and absence of prominent vascularity
Follicular dendritic cell sarcoma: cytologic atypia, mitotic activity, and aberrant immunophenotype
IgG4-related disease: dense plasmacytic infiltrate, storiform fibrosis, and increased IgG4+ cells
Reactive lymphoid hyperplasia: preserved architecture and absence of “lollipop” or “onion-skin” features
🧠 UPDATES (Vidal & Ferry, Adv Anat Pathol, 2009)
UCD-HV is not associated with IL-6 elevation or HHV-8 infection
Rare reports suggest somatic mutations in the MAPK signaling pathway
FDC atypia is considered reactive, with no clear evidence of malignancy
Clinicopathologic correlation is critical to avoid overdiagnosis
📌 Take-Home Message:
UCD-HV is a benign lymph node lesion with striking histologic patterns. Despite its indolent behavior, it can mimic neoplastic processes. Accurate recognition of its architectural features and appropriate immunohistochemistry are essential for diagnostic accuracy.

@EmirSirdam This excuse for the propagation of hate in Nigeria that some rationalise and call "vawulence" is part of the agenda to keep Nigerians in penury. When preoccupied with frivolities, the corrupt pilfer unchecked.
Yesterday, a well respected online Obidient Aunt of mine based in the US called.
She shared her reservation for my support for Trump and wanted to know why and when we would resume Vawulence Space.
My conversation with her was one after deep thought I felt I had to put in writing for posterity sake, and out of respect to numerous hardworking Nigerians in the US who I share this platform with, many of whom support the DNC.
I know the human mind is fickle and we forget so quickly, but this tweet will be a reference, and I pray I am wrong.
I told her that the biggest misconception we have today is thinking Nigeria is truly INDEPENDENT. We can not say we are independent when we basically depend on foreign powers for virtually everything.
Our dependence on foreign powers via aids, grants, loans, healthcare etc comes with many consequences, one of which is access to the numerous resources Nigeria is blessed with.
For these forces to continually have unlimited access to our resources, they MUST have access to the Presidency.
It is just common sense.
Do you think they will want to deal with a Nigerian President that is not corrupt or ready for shady deals?
@EmirSirdam You are right that Nigeria isn't truly independent but wrong when you say that the political parties in Nigeria except the APC are independent. I didn't vote in the last 2023 elections because I realized that it didn't matter who got there. Bottom up Reform is what will work.
My support for Trump has little to do with him in person but plenty to do with me knowing that he does not care about Nigeria or will he even interfere in our elections like the DNC WILL still do in 2027.
I ended up telling her that to cure an ailment like Nigeria, we have to tackle it from the root.
If Tinubu as an outsider was able to rig his way in 2023, what do you think he will do as an incumbent with the backing of the US Government.
Look at all the Biden/Harris administration did to protect him in his drug case and his fake Chicago state certificate in 2023
You think he won’t give them half of Nigeria as a gift for them to help him remain in power?
Let me leave this for our people to ponder.
For those that will say it is up to Nigerians, I say go and look at Brazil, they protested in their millions for months but you did not even know.
Nigerians can only salvage Nigeria when we break the back bone of APC which is the DNC.
I don’t think I will want to waste my time or resources to campaign in 2027 when I know that we really do not stand a chance because Nigeria is still not Independent and Thiefnubu’s backbone are still in Power.

@lidocaine_v2@OfficialDSSNG Did you all see the number of guns and ammunition intercepted recently by our Custom service? May God Almighty protect all innocent Nigerians and punish all those who work to terrorise my dear country.
DSS COUNSELS AGAINST PLANNED PROTEST IN NIGERIA
The Department of State Services (DSS) has followed the discourse on planned protests in parts of the country in the coming weeks by persons and groups yet to identify themselves in the public as leaders of the plot. While peaceful protest is a democratic right of citizens, the Service has confirmed a sinister plan by some elements to infiltrate the protest and use it to cause chaos and extreme violence in the land. It has also identified the reason behind the protest to be political. The plotters desire to use the intended violent outcome to smear the federal and sub-national governments; make them unpopular and pit them against the masses. The long term objective is to achieve a regime change especially at the Centre.
The Service has also identified, among others, the funding lines, sponsors and collaborators of the plot. However, it does not think that aggression should be the first line action in the instance, in handling the emerging scenario. It has instead, variously applied non kinetic and conflict resolution strategies, including moral suasion, stakeholder engagement and other multi-track diplomatic shuttles, to dissuade the planners from actualising their undesirable objective.
Based on the foregoing, the Service wishes to warn all the protest groups to eschew any form of proposed rage, anarchy and spoliation. While the different levels of Government have routinely explained their agenda to ameliorate alleged harsh economic conditions, the Service urges the prospective protesters to listen to the voice of reason, good conscience and patiently engage with the authorities, in the interest of peace. This has become important given that violence begets destruction of lives and property as well as serve as a distraction to governance. The agitators are encouraged to use ample ways available to them to channel their grievances without resorting to violence.
The Service calls on people of goodwill, Leaders of Thought, Captains of Industry, Labour Unions, Student Associations, Youth Leaders, the Civil Society, Clergy, NGOs, Women groups, Civil Servants and Politicians to shun any invitation to participate in any orchestrated violence, deliberately designed to cause disaffection in the country. Similarly, Parents, Guardians, Heads of traditional and academic institutions are respectively urged to advise their children, wards, subjects and students not to take part in the planned protest. Let us all join hands to build a Nation without rancour, bitterness or stained banner.
The Service will work with other sister Security and law enforcement agencies to maintain peace. It will, where necessary, apply all legitimate methods to achieve this. Meanwhile, the website, dss.gov.ng; email address - dsspr@dss.gov.ng and Telephone lines +2349153391309; +2349088373514 will remain available to the members of the public who may wish to contact the Service.
