@Hallpuntloser ITV 100% always try to update viewers on any serious injury if they can, regardless of race. If you haven’t noticed that, I don’t know what to tell you. The star attraction of the whole day breaks down, they’re trying to reassure viewers he might be okay. It’s hardly surprising.

Prayers are with Sir Gino obviously but slightly disappointed with ITV and Richard Hoiles about the whole situation. All horses should be treated equally but doubt they'd give the same level of respect if it happened to a class 6 horse. Evident in their tones in that race.

@SpartanMissile That's fair enough but the point I am making is if a horse suffers an injury on a race they show say from Lingfield in a Class 6 race - are they going to go 'overboard' to find out the details - absolutely not.

@Hallpuntloser Richard Hoiles is ALWAYS respectful towards a horse with a catastrophic injury, in any race he’s commentating on. Sir Gino was the day’s star attraction, arguably the best NH horse in the UK atm, of course they’re going to give him more attention than most whatever the outcome.

@henrywinter P2 TNT clearly doing all of the set up. Cameras etc. How come the BBC did not get matches of their own accord without sharing with TNT? Their coverage is dreadful. FA have made a poor choice. I have lost interest.

@henrywinter I was not too bothered about a deal with TNT Sports but I am shocked at how much coverage they signed up for and the impact of the BBC. What I mean by this is the coverage is dull on the BBC because it is like TNT have them wrapped around their finger. P1

Lot of anger about only two FA Cup third-round ties being televised live Free To Air (Macclesfield-Palace, Spurs-Villa, both on BBC on Saturday) and others scattered over four days on subscription (TNT). Some thoughts… 🏆So much anger/frustration about access because the FA Cup was so good this weekend. Upsets, drama, great goals, emotional individual stories, and reminder of the power and passion of the pyramid. Everyone wanted to see it. The Cup still matters. 🏆Own goal by FA not demanding in TNT contract that BBC had a game on the Sunday. 🏆Worth noting that, growing up, none of the ties were on live terrestrial. The FA Cup final always protected on the ‘crown jewels’ FTA list. Radio was king. Under current deal, BBC TV shows two live matches each round through to the quarters, one semi and, as always, the final. 🏆You’ve got to fight for your rights. It would be nice if BBC could remember it is the national broadcaster, football is the national sport and compete more for rights, perhaps in partnership with ITV (Scotland has own deal). BBC has some brilliant football presenters and commentators. Be nice to hear and see them more. Barring the occasional live game, BBC TV is becoming more a highlights and digital clips operation (see also Champions League). nb: BBC Radio – 5Live and local – covered all 32 ties and invariably do it well. 🏆Licence fee important if BBC is to compete. 🏆Problem for terrestrial broadcasters is FA chasing paywall money rather than thinking of next generation of FA Cup fans. Naïve to think younger generation only want clips, not live. Family viewing, too. 🏆Situation will encourage more use of firesticks. 🏆Draws – especially third round - need proper separate shows, not tacked on before a live game. Tonight's draw before Liverpool-Barnsley on TNT. BBC says, “Supporters can also follow the draw on the BBC Sport website and app”. Not ideal. But that's the route that the FA has chosen. 🏆It's all about the money. Sad, especially as the essence of the FA Cup is about joy and glory.

Saturday- Wetherby - OFF Kempton-2pm inspection tomorrow. Potential for up to 20mm of rain and 3cm to 4cm of snow. Max daytime temp of +5C and min temp of 0C for the remainder of the week. Warwick- overnight lows sitting at +1c and day time highs of +3c up until race day. The ground has begun to thaw on top. We are forecast between 20-30mm of rain starting tomorrow pm through to Friday morning. There is a chance this may turn to snow overnight but we are hoping it remains sleety/rain.
