Backend devs. How do you prevent a client from maliciously doing something like: const response = await axios.post( '/api/payments', { amount: 100, currency: 'USD', }, { headers: { 'Idempotency-Key': 'abc123', }, } ); Then few minutes later; const response = await axios.post( '/api/payments', { amount: 500, currency: 'USD', }, { headers: { 'Idempotency-Key': 'abc123', }, } ); Same idempotency keys, different amounts.

Looks like X has quietly added idempotency to replies. My network dropped while posting a reply, so I assumed it failed and hit "Reply" again. Instead of creating a duplicate, X simply told me I'd already sent that exact reply. Backend engineers know how satisfying that is.
