@SkylineSportsMT I’m torn. These outliers are few and far between but when they do happen, they are great stories.

@SkylineSportsMT I agree with is for most years, the playoffs are super diluted. But then you get a team like Illinois State which is a “Last 4 In” team in the 2025 FCS Playoffs which makes a great run and is a great story. If we don’t have the 24-team playoff, that doesn’t happen in 2025.

If a four or five-loss team can still make the playoffs, what’s the point of the regular season? If you can lose 1/3 of your games (or more) and still make the playoffs because you play in a power conference, why play your best players in big games if those games mean next to nothing and guys risk getting hurt? What will we think when a 4-loss team wins a national championship? The FCS expansion from 16 to 20 to 24 teams has done NOTHING to enhance the post season. It’s just given a bunch of less than conferences auto bids they don’t deserve 🤷 When will it end? Once there’s 24 team, they’ll push for 36 and they’ll push to keep the non Power 4 out of the picture. Dream scenarios for Power 4 commissioners is having 50 eligible teams and 36 make the playoffs because - money, money, money. It’s the same thing with the NCAA Tournament. We are marching toward a future where the only thing a basketball team has to do to make the Big Dance is play in the Big Ten or the SEC…
