Three days. Three guns. Three threats removed from our community. In just three days, Hamilton Police officers seized three dangerous firearms in three separate incidents. Every illegal gun taken off the street is one less weapon that can be used to harm our community. Hamilton Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a body that was discovered in the area of Fruitland Road and North Service Road. A large police presence is on scene, and we ask the public to adjust their travels to avoid the area.

Yesterday, our officers responded to a report of a missing elderly person with underlying health concerns. Given the individual's medical condition and the extreme heat, there were significant concerns for their safety and well-being. After an extensive search, one of our officers located the individual trapped along the side of a steep embankment in Dundas. Working together with @HamiltonFireDep and @HPS_Paramedics, the individual was safely rescued and returned home. This incident is a great example of the strength of teamwork and collaboration among our emergency services. We are grateful for the coordinated efforts of everyone involved, which helped ensure a safe outcome!

Last week, members of the Traffic Safety Unit were conducting seatbelt inspections on Greenhill Avenue when they observed a concerning violation involving an infant, who was not properly secured in a child safety seat. Had the vehicle been involved in a collision, the child would have been at significant risk of serious injury or death. Seatbelts are proven to save lives and remain one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of injury in a collision. Parents and caregivers are reminded to ensure children are properly secured in an appropriate child restraint, that is installed and suited to the child’s age, height, and weight.
