Some Hamilton Happenings from back in October!

We have lots to be thankful for at Hamilton. In October our focus has been "Gratitude", and we have re-established our Family Teams to think about gratitude in multi-age groups! We are grateful that we can gather together with our big buddies and little buddies!

Where has September gone? Our focus this month has been Courage. Hamilton Hawks have been showing courage by starting kindergarten, settling into new classes with new friends and teachers, presenting live at assemblies, running during our Terry Fox Run, and doing the right thing!

Education Week 2022 is an opportunity to openly share the many remarkable things happening in Richmond schools. Please take the time to visit the district website from April 25 - April 29 to enjoy the various examples of work that have been provided by staff and students.

Wishing everyone who celebrated and are continuing to celebrate these observances very joyous days with family, friends, and your community.

Divisions 6 and 7 have been hatching and nurturing the next generation of one of our most significant keystone species in BC! These baby salmon will rejoin the river system at the Little Campbell hatchery on Wednesday. What stories could these salmon tell? #sd38learn

How can I care for this place? How does this place take care of me? We are very excited to be the first hosts of WHERE AM I? a travelling exhibition curated by @Artstarts, which invites us to consider our identities in relation to this place. #WhereAmIExhibition

A couple of weeks ago, we conducted a Drop, Hold & Cover drill. Practicing safety drills such as these, helps us to be prepared in the event of an actual emergency… and are a good reminder to come to school dressed for the weather, in case we ever end up outside unexpectedly!

Hamilton was a sea of pink yesterday, and students thought of ways we can “lift each other up” here in our school community… being kind, standing up for others, not being a bystander, appreciating our diversity, including everyone, inviting others to participate… and more!

Last week our Grade 5 students celebrated their D.A.R.E. graduation. Thank you Constable Kandola for helping our students learn about the importance of taking care of ourselves and making healthy, safe choices as we face life’s challenges! #sd38learn

Yesterday with our virtual assembly at school and today at home, we take time to reflect on the sacrifices of those who fought for the rights and freedoms that we have in Canada. How can we continue to work together for peace? How can you show peace with your words and actions?

Look what sprouted in our field this morning! Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped make our Hamilton pumpkin patch a great pumpkin success! 🎃

While you have been enjoying your pro-D day today Hawks, our amazing Hamilton staff have been engaged in professional learning around topics such as digital literacy, inclusion, communication, story workshop, music, and much more! We are a community of lifelong learners!
