Thrilled to share that I'll be starting a PhD in Welsh this year, exploring the elegiac traditions in Welsh (marwnad), Persian & Urdu (مرثیہ / marsiya), with a focus on historic tragedies such as the battles of Karbala & Cilmeri at Bangor University. Grateful to have full funding

We’ll be starting our reading circle this coming Tuesday with Virginia Woolf’s Orlando and a hikayat from Sa’adi's Gulistan. I still have a couple of spots available, which I’m happy to offer to readers outside Balochistan on a first-come, first-served basis.

Does anyone know the history and social culture of ethnic Kashmiris (Koshur) of Peshawar. My limited knowledge; 1. History: They migrated in mass during Sikh and Dogra (1819-1947) rules in Kashmir Valley. Major events/waves were 1833 famine, 1878 famine, and 1947 partition. Some of them migrated to Punjab before settling in Peshawar. Many Kashmiris are found in Asia Gate and Ghanta Ghar neighborhoods. 2. Socio-linguistic Culture: A good percentage of migrants adopted 'Peshawiri/Peshori' culture. Most of them speak Peshori Hindko these days as lingua franca. Some speak Persian and Punjabi (with some using borrowed vocabulary from Kashmiri). A minor population may speak Pushto as first language?? 3. Cuisine: Harissa (meat porridge), Wazwan (multi-course feast feat. Roghan Josh), Noon Chai (pink salted tea), Kashmiri Roghni, and Kashmiri-styled Qahwa (saffron infused, different from the Peshori variant). Bukhara Haleem?? 4. Common Castes/Surnames: Khwaja, Sufi, Syed, Bukhari. Mir?? Mian?? Butt?? 5. Notable People: Haji Ghulam Samdani's family of Barmula (includ. Yahya Jan, Abdur Rahman Peshawari), Patras Bukhari, Prithviraj Kapoor (father of Raj Kapoor), A. K. Hangal, D. N. Chopra (father of Vidhu Vinod Chopra) and Syed Muhammad Ameer Shah Gillani alias Moulvi Jee. Please name more. In my opinion, Peshawar became an epicenter for the immaculate blending of Kashmiriyat and the local cultural code of Peshoritop (and Pashtunwali). @mazdaki, @govtofkhawar, @HammadHRind @zainengineer, @iopyne, @syeda1111111, @brerkhargosh , @AkhundzadaArif, @alijan98 your insights (and analysis) on this subject would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

@HammadHRind @avzaagzonunaada my dad tells me its more prevalent in the Thal desert part or rural salt range Piedmont. Also, are you familiar with constructions where two clitics are used? rupai dit-m-us and dit-m-is "money give=1st-3rd."

@HasanMS_10016 @avzaagzonunaada Sounds right to me, though I must say, despite its being my "home variety", I've never encountered 1 person sing pronom suffixes in Shahpuri. For ex, Kufri ghar-es/ghar-ai/ghar-esse/ghar-ne ("his/her/your/our/their/your house is in Kufri") all sound familiar but not Kufri ghar-em
