7/5/47 Larry Doby became the first African American to play in the American League when he pinch hit for the Indians hours after arriving from Newark, NJ. During his 13 yr MLB career he was a 9x all star with a .288 BA and 1515 hits. He was enshrined in Cooperstown in 1998. #Doby
