The other guy very obviously thinks a female lead is actively contributing to the writing being bad despite Janeway being one of the most redeeming parts of Voyager.

Easy; current writers are shit, can’t write beyond their own vapidly distorted POV, as such their beliefs and identities are all they write about, and that’s what we find everywhere in Trek now.

Complaints of Star Trek being “too preachy” always make me laugh. This is the franchise where Kirk literally read out the US Constitution out to yell at aliens for not being inclusive enough in applying it. But ya know, gay Klingons are unrealistic.

@HanThocku @act4sp @SKivimaa @jessiegender I am NOT saying the shows were bad because of the choice to use female characters in those spots (causal), I’m saying that a pattern exists which is rather sad (correlation) given the potential of the universe the shows claim to take place within.

@AT2Pro @SKivimaa @jessiegender I also grew up on TNG/DS9/VOY (DS9 being my favorite, even back when everyone hated it). I thought DSC was okay. My issues with it had more to do with the cinematography than the writing. PIC had potential, but mucked it up with the nostalgia bait of season 3.

@HanThocku @SKivimaa @jessiegender I grew up on TNG/DS9/VOY, cut my teeth on the TOS movies, I went into DSC and PIC wanting to like them, it didn’t happen. I would have given SFA a chance if it wasn’t the same dren. I was hesitant to give Lower Decks a chance, ended up enjoying it, the rest were nowhere close.
