Here’s a special message from @herbiehancock announcing the 2026 Herbie Hancock Institute International Jazz Vocals Competition, taking place in Paris in partnership with the @FondationLV — marking the first time the Competition will be held outside of the United States. Applications are now open for vocalists from around the world at hancockinstitute.org/competition. The Competition weekend will take place October 10–11, 2026, in the Fondation’s Auditorium, housed within the iconic architectural masterpiece designed by Frank Gehry. For nearly four decades, the Competition has helped launch the careers of the next generation of jazz artists—including Melissa Aldana, Emmet Cohen, Kris Bowers, Marquis Hill, and Jahari Stampley—who will take the stage at this year’s International Jazz Day Global Concert in Chicago. Six extraordinary young artists from around the world have been selected for the prestigious Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance at UCLA, Class of 2027. This intensive, full-scholarship graduate program will guide these musicians through two years of deep study and collaboration under the mentorship of jazz greats.
