that is not limited to the standard 12 free sessions. One of the best outcomes arising from the program is that families who have previously not known what they could look forward to with their children, now have the possibility of re-uniting with them.

The service is working with children from the age of 12 years. Clients are referred by the ACT Community Services Directorate or Child Protection Services. Providing access to mental health care with a qualified aboriginal therapist for families and their children

"The leading cause of death for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children is suicide.

Participants have been intentionally hired, with support and training, to work on changing the narrative around prisoners returning to the community." Indra Esguerra, Justice Reform Initiative @JailingsFailing during the Hands Across Canberra Charity Lunch, 2023.

This program is now taking on national significance. Early next year, a group of 30 people who have been through the prison system will take part in the program.
