Deeply heartbroken by the tragic avalanche at Zojila Pass that has claimed innocent lives and left families in unimaginable grief. This painful tragedy has shaken us all, and words fall short in expressing the sorrow felt across Ladakh. I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the families of Asadullah, Mohamad Ali, Toiba Bano, Shahar Bano, Mohammad Yusuf, Mohd Baqir from Nilagarh, and Ali Akber Shadab. May the Almighty grant them strength and patience to endure this irreparable loss. I pay special tribute to Ali Akber Shadab, associated with Jamiat ul Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil, Ladakh. He was a kind soul and personally very close to me. His sincerity, warmth, and dedication will always be remembered. We will always remember you and your contributions. My deepest condolences to his brother, sister, and entire family. I also pray for the speedy recovery of all those injured in this unfortunate incident. May the Almighty grant strength and patience to the bereaved families and bless the departed souls with eternal peace.

Heartbroken by the tragic avalanche at Zojila Pass that has claimed innocent lives. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families no words can truly ease their pain. This is not just a tragedy, but a stark reminder of the harsh and dangerous realities our people are forced to endure while traveling on this critical route. Zojila is the lifeline of Ladakh, yet repeated incidents like this expose serious gaps in safety preparedness. I strongly urge the concerned authorities to act with urgency rescue and clearance operations must be carried out on a war footing, and immediate relief and support must reach the affected families without any delay. At the same time, there is an urgent need to implement a fixed and scientifically planned traffic schedule, preferably during early morning hours when avalanche risks are significantly lower. Preventive measures must replace reactive responses. Equally important, we must all act responsibly. Once safety timings are fixed, strict adherence by the public is essential no journey is worth risking a life. Human life must always come above everything else. The lives of our people cannot be left at the mercy of unpredictable conditions. We stand united in grief, and we will continue to raise our voice until safe, reliable, and all weather connectivity for Ladakh becomes a reality.

I extend my sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Union Minister Nitin Gadkari ji for approving the ₹1196.22 crore Fotu La tunnel project on NH-01 in Ladakh. Under your leadership, India’s road infrastructure has witnessed remarkable progress, and we are confident that this momentum will continue further. We also remain hopeful that many of our important and long-pending projects, vital for the development and welfare of the people of Ladakh, will be realized. I also thank Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji for his continued support. This project will ensure safer, all-weather connectivity and bring significant benefits to our people. Heartiest congratulations to the people of Ladakh on this important milestone. @nitin_gadkari @narendramodi

📢Ladakh🛣️ In the Union Territory of Ladakh, we have approved ₹1196.22 crore for the construction of a unidirectional twin-tube tunnel, along with approach roads, across Fotu La Pass on National Highway 1. NH-01 (Uri–Srinagar–Leh) traverses Fotu La at an altitude of approximately 4,108 metres, making it the highest point along the highway. This stretch serves as a vital strategic corridor and the primary supply route to Ladakh. However, the existing road features steep gradients and multiple hairpin bends, and remains frequently closed during winters due to heavy snowfall and icing. To address these challenges, the tunnel project—spanning a total length of 2.65 km, including a 1.96 km twin-tube tunnel and 0.69 km of approach roads—will ensure safer, all-weather connectivity. Once completed, it will reduce travel distance by 8.5 km, delivering significant strategic and logistical benefits. #PragatiKaHighway #GatiShakti @PMOIndia @lg_ladakh @Haneefa_Jan @TashiKhachu @BJP4Ladakh @BJP4India

Had a detailed and meaningful meeting with Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji along with Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, and Shri Zakir Hussain, Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil. We discussed several important issues concerning Kargil and also raised the matter of Ladakhi students and tullab who are still in Iran, requesting urgent steps for their safe evacuation as their families back home are deeply worried about their safety. Expressed sincere gratitude to the Government of India for the timely and safe evacuation of our Zawars (pilgrims) from Iran to India and for making all necessary arrangements. Hope that all remaining students and residents will also be brought back safely at the earliest. During the meeting, we also submitted a memorandum highlighting key developmental demands of Kargil, including the creation of new districts of Sankoo and Shakar-Chiktan, improved air connectivity for Kargil, strengthening healthcare infrastructure, expediting the Engineering College, establishing an Agricultural University, promoting tourism, agriculture and horticulture, and other important measures aimed at the overall development and welfare of the people of Kargil.

I welcome the decision of the Government of India to revoke the detention of Shri Sonam Wangchuk. This step will help in rebuilding some trust and creating an atmosphere for meaningful and constructive dialogue regarding the genuine aspirations of the people of Ladakh. However, the deep pain and frustration among the people of Ladakh especially the youth cannot be ignored. For months, our young people, civil society, and leaders of the KDA and Apex Body, along with political and religious leaders, have been raising their voices peacefully for the protection of Ladakh’s identity, fragile environment, culture and future. The events that unfolded and the detention of respected leaders caused immense disappointment and emotional distress among our people. I sincerely request the Government of India and the UT Administration to also consider the release of those individuals who are still in jail in connection with that unfortunate day. Healing and reconciliation can only take place when all such matters are addressed with compassion, fairness and wisdom. Ladakh will never forget the tragic loss of four precious lives on that black day. Those four souls remain in the prayers of every Ladakhi, and their families continue to carry unimaginable pain. Justice for them is not just a demand it is a responsibility that the people of Ladakh deeply hope will be fulfilled. The people of Ladakh, particularly the youth, stood united in support of Shri Sonam Wangchuk and the leadership of the KDA and Apex Body. I strongly hope that all charges framed against him and against any Ladakhi in connection with those unfortunate events will be reviewed and cleared in the spirit of justice and reconciliation. The youth of Ladakh seek hope, dignity and a secure future. It is now time to heal the wounds, rebuild trust, and move forward through sincere dialogue so that the aspirations of the people of Ladakh are addressed with fairness and respect.

x.com/iamnarendranat… Strongly condemn the shocking firing incident on Dr. Farooq Abdullah Saheb, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and President of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, during a public function that was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary. Such a cowardly attack on a senior democratic leader is a direct assault on our democratic values and the rule of law. The reported security lapse in the Z+ protection cover is deeply alarming and raises serious concerns. An investigation must be conducted at the earliest, and accountability should be fixed at every level. Relieved to know that Dr. Farooq Abdullah Sahab is safe. Violence and intimidation have no place in a democracy and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

As I remain deeply concerned about the pilgrims (Zawar) stranded in Iran, I have been actively engaging with the concerned authorities to ensure their safe and earliest return. I am also in continuous touch with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding their evacuation; however, due to the closure of Iranian airspace, evacuation by air is presently not feasible. Today, I also met Kiren Rijiju and discussed the issue in detail, particularly the concerns of pilgrims from Ladakh. The Government of India is arranging the safe movement of the stranded pilgrims to Yerevan, from where their return to India can be organized. The Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, is coordinate the entire process to ensure smooth communication and assistance to the stranded pilgrims. I would also like to clarify that some false information is being circulated claiming that the Indian Embassy is charging money from Zawars and students. This is not correct. The Embassy officials have been working tirelessly and have responded positively to all the requests we raised. In this difficult war-like situation, they have made sincere efforts and have resolved most of the issues faced by our people. I remain in constant touch with the heads of most Zawar groups, and they have informed me that the arrangements made for them are satisfactory. Initially, many pilgrims were facing financial difficulties, but after I raised the matter with the Ministry of External Affairs, the issue was addressed and accommodation and necessary assistance were arranged. The concerned authorities are also in regular coordination with the pilgrims.I would sincerely thank the Embassy of India in Iran, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Ministry of Home Affairs for that. I humbly request the people of Ladakh to kindly avoid spreading such false information on social media and rely only on verified updates. I remain in close coordination with all concerned authorities to ensure the safety and early return of all our people.

Today I visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Iran Culture House in New Delhi and signed the condolence book to pay tribute to the Shaheed Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on behalf of the peace loving people of Ladakh. I also handed over the condolence message to Ayatollah Dr. Abdul Majid Hakeem Elahi, Representative of the Supreme Leader of Iran in India, and Dr. Mohammad Fathali, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to India. His martyrdom is a profound loss for the entire Ummah. He was a fearless voice against oppression, a steadfast defender of the مظلوم, and a leader who never bowed before the forces of arrogance and injustice. In this moment of deep grief, I extend my heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the people of Iran and millions of his followers across the world. The legacy of the Shaheed Supreme Leader will continue to inspire generations to stand for truth, justice, and dignity. May Almighty Allah elevate his ranks among the righteous and grant him the highest place in Jannah.

As I am deeply concerned about the pilgrims (Zawar) stranded in Iran, I have been actively engaging with the concerned authorities to ensure their safe and earliest return. Many pilgrims are facing serious difficulties, with some having almost run out of money, and efforts are also being made to arrange accommodation and necessary support for them. In this regard, I have discussed the matter with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the evacuation of the pilgrims stranded in Iran. Due to the closure of Iranian airspace, evacuation by air is presently not feasible. The Government of India is exploring alternative arrangements to safely move the stranded pilgrims to Yerevan capital city of Armenian , from where their return to India can be facilitated. The matter has also been brought to the notice of the Chief Secretary, Ladakh, with a request to appoint a high rank liaison officer for smooth coordination. I remain in close coordination with the concerned authorities to ensure the safety and early return of all our people.

Today, I held a detailed meeting with the Joint Secretary, PAI Division, Ministry of External Affairs, regarding Indian nationals including residents of Ladakh stranded in Iran. We discussed the safe evacuation of pilgrims, students, tullabs and all others affected. The Joint Secretary assured me that the Government is taking every necessary step and is deeply concerned for the safety of its citizens. With Iranian airspace currently closed and sea routes also carrying risks, and given the dangers at borders of neighbouring countries, the Ministry is actively exploring all possible options for safe evacuation. The Indian Embassy in Iran is collecting data of all stranded Indian nationals and is trying to reach out to every Indian citizen there. Specific concerns of Ladakhi residents, including passport and visa-related issues, were also discussed. The Ministry has assured that all such matters are being examined and has assured full support on these matters. For the time being, I request everyone stranded in Iran to remain where they are and avoid any movement until further instructions. Efforts are also being made to shift those in high-risk areas (such as Tehran and other cities facing attacks) to safer locations within Iran itself. I am in regular contact with the Ministry and will share every update as soon as it is received. Safety of every Indian nationals including our people from Ladakh remains our top priority.

I am shattered and overwhelmed with grief at the martyrdom of my beloved spiritual leader, Ayatollah Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei. His life was a beacon of unwavering faith, sacrifice, and fearless guidance that shaped my convictions and gave hope to millions. He stood firmly with the oppressed and remained the unwavering voice of the downtrodden and voiceless across the world. I strongly condemn this barbaric act. Such an attack is not only against a revered leader, but against justice, dignity, and the conscience of humanity itself. Today, I mourn not just a leader but a mentor of million hearts. May Allah elevate his pure soul to the highest مقام and grant strength and patience to the grieving Ummah in this immeasurable loss. إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون

ِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ Deeply heartbroken by the passing of Qamar Ali Akhoon Sahib. With his demise, Ladakh and especially Kargil have lost not just a senior political figure, but a guiding force who dedicated his entire life to the betterment, dignity, and progress of the people of Kargil. He always stood firmly with the poor, the marginalized, and those in need, making their struggles his own and raising their voice at every platform. This is a deeply sad loss for the National Conference in Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir. For National Conference Kargil, it is an emotional and irreplaceable loss a pillar of strength, guidance, and unity who shaped and nurtured the party with dedication and sincerity. Kargil has lost its true son, and we have lost our hero. Throughout his distinguished public life, he served with dedication and vision as an MLA representing Kargil, as a Cabinet Minister in the erstwhile Government of Jammu & Kashmir, and as the first Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Kargil. He worked tirelessly to ensure that the concerns of Kargil and entire Ladakh were heard with dignity and respect. His contributions to governance, infrastructure, public welfare, and political representation have left a lasting mark on Kargil and strengthened the foundation of National Conference in Kargil. For me personally, this is an irreparable loss. He was more than a leader, he was like a brother and a guardian to me. His honesty, simplicity, and fearless leadership always inspired me and the people of Kargil. Today, as Kargil mourns, my heart is broken. May his legacy continue to guide Kargil and Ladakh forever. To Hon’ble CEC Dr. Mohmad Jaffer Akhoon, the entire Akhoon family, and all the dedicated workers of the National Conference across Kargil, Ladakh, and Jammu & Kashmir, I extend my deepest condolences. May Almighty Allah grant you sabr and grant him the highest place in Jannat.
