@CBayswater @MamaCAllen Honestly? No one does. Just like no one enjoys hospital. It’s a practice to protect mom’s and baby’s health and it works. Not enjoyable, but works.

Would you like to not leave your room for forty days? Most American moms I think would find that maddening. It’s actually a joyful thing to take your newborn to the park, out to dinner, etc. The final stages of pregnancy are pretty confining. Many women I think feel a joy and relief after birth.

Actually this is true (ish). In Asian countries where the culture is that all the female relatives come for 40 days and do nothing but serve the mother and the family, while Mom does nothing but takes care of baby, postpartum depression rates are next to zero. But the onus isn't just on the partner, it's on the surrounding family and community. "But I don't have a good relationship with my family!" Yeah, that's a problem. "I don't have any friends!" Another huge problem. We are too chronically independent, and it's contributing to massive mental health issues.

@CBayswater @MamaCAllen As others had said, traditionally in Asia newborn and mom are not supposed to leave their room. They are not to be exposed to crowd or element. Probably because in old times this is the only way to minimize infection. But yeah, you stay in bed and feed the baby. Total privacy.

Having people around that much right after birth would drive me crazy. Every time I’ve been pregnant and joined the forums for my cohort, there were endless posts from ladies whose relatives planed to descend on them to “help” with the baby when all they wanted was privacy and peace. Newborns aren’t that hard! I understand your message and it’s a nice idea for many people. But many other women want to get back to normal life and/or heal and adjust without visitors.

@mslane1722 @j2always767 Exactly. the success of one always boosts the other, at least it won't hurt the other. Why would any Jared girl wish Jensen to fail. It's detrimental. I don't even wish Misha to fail. If hellers get some fresh meat they would leave Jared alone.

@HanmeiCui @j2always767 I feel like many of us don’t care about VR (just like we didn’t care about countdown). It’s not my thing, so I won’t tune in, but no one’s rooting against him. We understand Jensen being successful doesn’t mean Jared can’t be. And vice versa. Let them both thrive.
