(Maybe this is only a UVic thing but) I am sorely disappointed to never have gotten to go to a Victorian conference and wear my period accurate costuming or have at least someone hanging around in some???

Medieval studies people have it so right when it comes to conferences. Why are the other eras not dressing up in period accurate costume and playing period accurate music?

It’s been so incredibly fun to research little period accurate elements I can incorporate while still keeping modern functionality. I’m having a blast.

Since wrapping up my degree I have taken up a number of different pursuits that studies (& a student budget) kept me from. Like redecorating my apartment in a style that is somewhere between dark academia and late Victorian. 🥰

I’ve been a Taylor fan since 2006, so this is tough: I don’t think this is a good album. It feels like she internalized “more words = art” post-folklore. A 31-track album that boldly asks: what if there are two good songs on the front half?

@PoetCourtney PAPER HOUND!!! My fave bookstore ever! Right across the street is a great bookstore too, not sure what it’s called… McLeod’s maybe? It’s that fun completely unorganized stacks to the ceilings type. Make friends with the owner and ask him for what you want — he has it!

After far too long, I am finally reading The Woman in White, and I can’t help but picture Laura Fairlie and Marian Halcombe as these two. Even though Mr. Wilkie sure loved his diversity, I know these two actually had to be super white. But I can’t help it.
