@ghauraghaura @bartonovopolis They "fixed" by regrading them entirely. Fellowship is no longer tinted, but they're not accurate to the original 35mm prints. Jackson regraded all 6 movies to give them a new consistent look, and he also applied DNR to make LOTR less grainy to match the Hobbit.

Certain people might crucify me for this, but the best way to watch The Lord of the Rings trilogy at home is also through bootleg 35mm scans.

I often see people say that it’s wrong to watch the movie this way because the coloring is inaccurate but I honestly never liked the home video transfers for this movie and there is no evidence that they were even supervised by Don Burgess. This scan just looks much better to me.

@HighDefDiscNews I’ve noticed that even if you buy a normal 1080p BD, the code will redeem in 4K if done through iTunes. Won’t happen with Vudu/FAH.

When I buy Paramount or Lionsgate titles on Blu-ray or 4K UHD Blu-ray that include a digital code: I am starting to opt for AppleTV instead of Fandango at Home [formerly VUDU]. Why? About 9 times out of 10 there’s no Dolby Atmos on Fandango but it is on AppleTV. Sound matters.
It’s about time @ParamountPics and @Lionsgate get the hell with program and join Movies Anywhere. Everyone else has.

@PRQDUCTIONS @TripleAAAkers7 She is younger than co-stars but so is the character. Veidt and Rorschach are 10 years older than her. Dan is 5 years older, which matches the age gap between the actors. It’s part of the story that she is way too young to have been sent to hang out with these men by her mother.

this film is all sauce and no substance, but also what gives the film sauce is antithetical to what Watchmen should be. it’s like if you tried to make spaghetti but instead of marinara you used chocolate syrup and completely forgot the noodles

@plandefeld410 @TripleAAAkers7 Dave Gibbons recorded a whole commentary for the longest cut of Watchmen and he gets very technical comparing the visual style of his illustrations vs the movie. It’s worth a watch/listen.

@TripleAAAkers7 Very funny to anally recreate multiple panels in the movie and completely miss the point that Gibbons’ art was intentionally de-sensationalized. There was no gaudy action or heroic poses or unrealistically chiseled physiques; it’s very *real* in its aesthetics

@TripleAAAkers7 This film stylises Comedian’s acts of violence, has Nite Owl fighting like a badass, Silk Spectre being extremely young & Ozymandias being cold & not camp like in the comic - all the antithesis to the intentions for these characters. I don’t know how people can praise it

@girldrawsghosts The Watchmen movie is just retelling the plot, but the novel so brilliantly uses the comic book medium that it’s impossible to truly adapt it to cinema.
I’d argue the director’s cut of Batman v Superman is an actual deconstruction of superhero movies

Hot take but a Watchmen film adaption should shift the deconstructive focus from comic books to comic book 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘴.
There are nods to that idea (Ozymandias’ Schumacher-style bat nipples/Nite Owl’s suit evoking Batman Begins’ aesthetic and palette), but it doesn’t commit

Can't blame anyone being driven insane by the editing but the new Zhang Yimou (Scare Out) litterely has things I have never seen before - so much fun, dramatically limited but overshadowed by non-stop visual ideas for me

@MickBransfield @GentleDoofus The arrow basically is the “unremastered” version. Shout is the new 4K restoration, and Arrow is taking that scan and applying additional color grading to make it match previous home video masters.

@MrControversy83 @BootsRiley I was able to see this film at a test screening months ago. Without violating my NDA, I can say some of the craziest stuff in the movie is not even hinted at in this trailer. You will get the basic premise but I don't think anyone could guess how off the rails it gets.
