It was great to be in Titchfield with Margaret Paren (CPRE Hampshire Chair) this morning as we launched Hedgerow Heroes. The project is not just about creating more hedgerows for wildlife, it’s also about preserving countryside skills which are at risk of being lost.

Amazing pink moon over Butser Hill at 0530 this morning. A full moon in April was called a pink moon by native Americans because it heralded the bloom of wildflowers. #southdowns

Today, we secured a trade continuity deal with Mexico. 3,800 🇬🇧 businesses exported goods to 🇲🇽 last year. This is the result of much hard work by the DIT & HMG teams. Total number of countries with whom we have secured trade agreements is now 58.

Just got round to reading the Govt’s 10 point plan for a Green Industrial Revolution (...it’s been a busy week!). Great to see the strong commitment to re-wilding in our National Parks. There’s a huge amount we can do in the South Downs with the right subsidies. V. exciting! 🌳

I was at the Seven Sisters Country Park on Tuesday and was lucky enough to see the sun come up at the Cuckmere Valley. It was quite amazing to witness...So glad this place is part of the South Downs National Park and will be properly protected for future generations...!

@sewateruk The works took place some months ago when the daffodils were still underground. The damage only became apparent when the daffodils did not emerge in the Spring. Perhaps we could have a site visit with my residents who planted them?

@CllrOppenheimer Hi Russell, we are struggling to associate the affected area with the correct works. We had an engineering scheme take place a couple of weeks ago on an island in the road. Could you advise when the works took place that affected the area & if its on an island please? Holly

@sewateruk Thanks Holly. On Farnham Road the area most affected has been around the Auction Sales room and opposite the Plestor. The cost of replanting bulbs will be around £250 and this can be paid to Liss Parish Council. We hope this can be arranged. Russell

It was inspiring to meet Homestart Butser volunteers in Liss - they make such a difference to families experiencing hard times. I was also delighted to present certificates to new volunteers completing their training. Homestart is an amazing organisation doing important work.
