@BrynnTannehill Yes but as blue states add services and de-criminalize minor offenses, at-risk populations birthed in red states migrate to blue states. Red wins when blue subsidizes red social problems, majority pop in red stays bright red (white), electoral votes continue to edge red.

So the guy who wants to implant metal wires in human brains and send people on one-way death trips to Mars; and who fudged car safety reports, sold flamethrowers for lulz, and believes we all live in a simulation is worried about... chatbots??!?

@punk6529 … it will never be AI vs. human. It will be human+AI vs some other human+AI. No master AI will be created with total access because other AI+humans will constantly be working to plug security gaps, same as always.

@punk6529 It doesn’t. Human pattern matching, trained on sci-if, has gone awry, that’s all. Pen testers and security experts will start using AI as much as malicious actors, with the net result that the balance of power will be about the same.

I am struggling to see existential risks from something like GPT-4. What I am missing? How does GPT-4 kill all the humans?

AI post apocalyptic fear is funny. Even granting magic wand waving on computer/world sensors/interfaces, why would smart machines violently attack humanity (guaranteed to galvanize resistance) when they could quietly solve cold fusion and wait for us to wipe ourselves out?

@DrEliDavid Did you hear someone hypothesize that scientists are mini gods, who can rise above their times, know everything, and predict the future? I haven’t. Science is a method for finding functional explanations for natural phenomena through observation. That’s it…
