We are so shocked and heartbroken to learn of the passing of @BlanksJamie — we just had him on our show one month ago and he was truly one of the kindest, most genuine souls we have ever gotten to interview. He had a true passion for the horror genre, giving us iconic slasher films like “Urban Legend” and “Valentine,” but he also was just so supportive of others and wanted all to succeed. And he had so much more filmmaking left in him, which makes this even more devastating. We’re just so incredibly sad to hear this news. It’s a huge loss for the horror community. Our condolences to his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing this lovely individual. 💔

@realitybites555 We appreciate each film in the franchise but love the original trilogy and part 4 the most because, for us, Scream is Sidney’s story. Whenever it goes from here, we’re glad we at least got a great film with S7 having Sidney back in focus. The future just needs to feel organic.

@HappyHorrorTime The same critics who praised Scream 5 & 6 which were both just objectively bad films, especially 6. Scream 7 is gonna be like Scream 3/4 where critics rated it poorly but people will go back and remember it as being awesome.

@realitybites555 Yeah, it was interesting because test audiences loved it and there was all this positive energy for a long time. Then the reviews happened and it felt like an alternate universe. But audiences keep going back to the theater so it’s a win to us. Also can’t wait for 8. 🔪

@HappyHorrorTime Oh wow!!! You’ve been sitting on this that long? I did a great job of ignoring literally all reviews and chatter of the movie so I went in totally blind. I will always do that for a Scream movie. I can’t wait to see where they take things for Scream 8.

@realitybites555 That’s the best way to see movies. A chorus of reviews, positive or negative, can certainly have a psychological effect on audiences before they even walk into the theater. We were fortunate to attend the first test screening for S7 last July so we’ve loved it ever since then!

Absolutely. It’s going to rise into most people’s top 5 over time imo. I went into the movie purposely ignoring all reviews or discussions of the film so I could form my own opinion and I left the theater absolutely thrilled. I loved the film immediately and saw it for the brilliant return to form that it was. Kevin did such a fantastic job and it sounds like Neve really helped steer things as the EP. I truly feel like Wes would be proud of Scream 7 and I could not say that about 5 or 6.

And we think, like other films in the franchise, it will be reassessed more and more over time. Lots of people who weren’t warm to it initially already say they liked it more on a second watch. We loved it right away though.

Yes! It was Judy Greer and then Keri Russell I believe. Both would have been very interesting and great choices for Jessica — but I’m happy they landed on Anna Camp because she too was brilliant casting for this franchise. I’m just so pleased with nearly every choice they made with Scream 7. Such a great time to be a Scream fan right now.
