Morgan Freeman is turning his entire 124-acre ranch in Mississippi into sanctuary for bees. Alarmed by collapsing bee populations, Freeman decided to act back in 2014. He imported 26 beehives from Arkansas to his ranch in Mississippi and planted fields of clover, lavender, and magnolia – creating a pollinator paradise across the entire property. What began as a personal hobby quickly became a full-scale conservation effort. Bees pollinate about 80% of the world’s flowering crops – including many fruits, nuts, and vegetables. One healthy colony can pollinate up to 300 million flowers in a single day. Without bees, ecosystems collapse. Food systems follow.

@Dr_TheHistories Leo was an Austrian-born JEW. He did not identify as Austrian; he left Austria because of persecution of Jews. He never stopped being Jewish. Please stop trying to erase Jews from history.

Tootsie Roll’s recipe from 1896 requires that a batch of the previous day be incorporated into the new batch. This means that each piece has a trace of the original 1896 Tootsie Roll.... Tootsie Roll was introduced in 1896 by Austrian immigrant Leo Hirschfield and became one of the first individually wrapped penny candies in the United States. Its chewy texture and resistance to melting helped make it especially popular for mass distribution, military rations, and movie theater sales during the 20th century. A long-circulated claim about the candy states that each new batch incorporates a portion of the previous batch, creating a continuous production chain stretching back to the original recipe. Similar “mother batch” methods have historically been used in foods such as sourdough bread, whiskey, and yogurt cultures to maintain consistency in flavor and texture over time. Tootsie Rolls became deeply associated with American candy culture and wartime history, particularly during World War II when they were included in military field rations because of their durability and long shelf life. The company’s mascot, the “Tootsie Roll Pop Owl,” became one of America’s most recognizable candy advertising characters after the famous “How many licks?” commercial debuted in 1969. © History Pictures #drthehistories

@LEGOTtNewsI @RepulsifyGaming Why wouldn't it run well? Base PS5 is a very capable console, I'm not sure why anyone was worried that it wouldn't run well. 🤔

@ThunderDomeGam1 @RinoTheBouncer @voltest52122 Well this is Microsoft we are talking about, they absolutely would go through with some shitty practice like that. It would remove all pre-owned Xbox games from the market eventually, making people buy new or digital and they reap the profits. 🤔🤷 Xbox died after the 360.

@RinoTheBouncer @voltest52122 The disc would still work like normal afterwards, it just would not have a digital license as it has been used already. If they made the disc useless after attaching a digital license to it, they would receive quite a bit of backlash. Stop & think about it.

RUMOR: Microsoft is working on Positron, a Disc-to-Digital system that allows Xbox convert physical games into digital versions🚀 ✅Insert disc in your console ✅Positron checks ownership of the game ✅It adds a digital version to your account ✅Afterwards, it will enable Cloud gaming ✅Disc likely gets disabled awards ✅This is to prevent resale afterwards No info on pricing (if applicable) and no official confirmation has been made to date Source: Windows Central

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is almost certainly real now isn't it? If new games from the Zelda Team (or Grezzo) aren't ready, this is a great way to celebrate the 40th anniversary. Ocarina of Time deserves it's Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition moment.

A Highland New Guinean reacts in pure shock after seeing a white person for the very first time. Until the 1930s, many Highland communities lived so deep in the mountains that they genuinely believed they were the only humans on Earth. When Australian explorers finally reached the region, both sides were stunned. The Highlanders saw pale‑skinned strangers with strange clothes and tools they’d never imagined. And the explorers discovered more than a million people living in valleys they assumed were empty. The Highlands of Papua New Guinea remained one of the most isolated human regions on Earth well into 20th Century. Because the terrain is mountainous, densely forested, and extremely difficult to cross, outside contact simply never reached these inland communities. While coastal groups had interacted with Europeans since the 1500s, the Highlanders lived in complete cultural and geographic separation. They developed their own agriculture, social systems, and belief structures, with no knowledge that other civilizations existed beyond their valleys. When Australian explorers unexpectedly entered the Highlands in the early 1930s, they encountered more than a million people who had lived uninterrupted for thousands of years. For the Highlanders, the arrival of pale‑skinned strangers was a world‑shattering moment. Many believed their own tribe represented the entirety of humanity, and outsiders were often interpreted as spirits or supernatural beings. The photograph captures that raw, unfiltered shock, a man reacting to a reality he never imagined possible. For the explorers, it was equally astonishing to find thriving societies in a region they assumed was empty. This encounter remains one of the most dramatic examples of first contact in modern history, showing how two human worlds can evolve side by side yet remain completely unaware of each other until a single moment changes everything. #drthehistories
