It is important to take our 'FUTURE generation' on the Journey that leads to understanding the value in their PAST. KKN is facilitating this journey through the HAY Initiative across secondary schools in Nigeria. #Archaeology #CulturalHeritage

After a 6 weeks module on the basics of Archaeology, Anthropology and Cultural Heritage, at Methodist Grammar School Ibadan. No more fun way to engage the students than with a light competition consisting of Multiple choice questions and a team quiz. #Archaeology #anthropology

Incredibly proud of my dad. He's a Urologist, so it'd have been reasonable if he had wanted a center for his own patients. But then, he said this was the vision God gave him when some of his medical students suffered from inadequate burn wound care after an accident ...1/3
Floyd Canweather@ogunmekpon

Let it be known that UITH currently houses the most equipped Burn intensive care center in West Africa. Shoutout to the HOD of Surgery, Prof Ademola-Popoola.

Congratulations are in order! 🎉 We're thrilled to announce that @sjonyems of University of Cambridge has been awarded the prestigious @WennerGrenOrg Dissertation Fieldwork Grant. Stanley's PhD research explores the relationship between cultural heritage and the legacies of the Nigeria-Biafra war (1967-1970) as it pertains to the Igbo community in southeastern Nigeria. Employing a multifaceted approach that combines historical, archival, ethnographic, and collaborative research, Stanley aims to shed light on the impact of the Nigeria-Biafra war on both the material and immaterial heritage of the Igbo people. His work not only contributes significantly to anthropological discussions on conflict and heritage but also uncovers the transformative potential of heritage in (post-)conflict scenarios. These include aspects like identity regeneration, memorialization, resilience, survival, and peacebuilding. Join us in celebrating Stanley’s remarkable achievement! 🙌 #WennerGren #DissertationFieldworkGrant #NigerianArchaeologyGist #CulturalHeritage #IgboCulture #ConflictHeritage #peacebuilding

This interview discusses the recent archaeological discovery of what is believed to be the first English slave fort in Africa, Fort Kormantine, located in Ghana. The fort, dating back to the 17th Century, was discovered by a team of archaeologists led by Professor Christopher DeCorse from Syracuse University in the US. Our own @Mokolade_Alao was interviewed and featured in it. Way to go! bbc.co.uk/news/world-afr…
