The second cohort of the Machakos Youth Service is making commendable progress as they near the completion of their National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) examinations. This marks a major milestone in equipping our youth with hands-on skills and preparing them for productive livelihoods. Following their exams, the trainees will engage in a one-week community service program, giving them an opportunity to give back to society while nurturing discipline and teamwork. This initiative strengthens their sense of responsibility and patriotism, builds leadership and teamwork skills, and contributes to the improvement of the local community environment. After the release of their results, we will hold a graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievements and mark the beginning of their transition into the job market and entrepreneurship, after which we will issue them with tools of trade. These tools will empower them to be self-reliant, enable them to start their own ventures, enhance productivity, and contribute meaningfully to economic growth while reducing unemployment among the youth.

Machakos County Referral Hospital Kitchen Gets Major Upgrade. The Machakos County Referral Hospital Hospitality section now boasts improved working conditions following the installation of modern steam boilers procured by the County Government of Machakos. The boilers have been installed in a newly renovated and well-ventilated kitchen, marking a significant upgrade from the previous setup that relied on firewood and exposed staff to excessive smoke; a known health hazard. The upgraded facility now supports the efficient preparation of meals for over 500 inpatients daily, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to high standards of hygiene.

My administration remains firmly committed to investing in the youth of Machakos County through impactful programmes that equip them with practical skills and open up economic opportunities. This Wednesday, 15th April 2026, I will officially launch a Youth Empowerment Programme at Nguluni Market in Matungulu West Ward, Matungulu Sub-County. The programme will focus on motor vehicle and bodaboda driving training, targeting youth from all the 40 wards across the county. Upon successful completion of the training, beneficiaries will be issued with driving licenses by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), empowering them to earn a living and build a better future. Together, we are creating pathways to employment, dignity, and self-reliance for our young people.

Today, the United Alternative Government Tour of Machakos County begins in Masinga, marking the start of our engagements with mwananchi. Presided over the launch of the new Machakos County Valuation Roll and the Automated Development Applications Management System (ADAMS), a historic first since the advent of devolution in Machakos County. This data will promote equity in property valuation while enhancing accuracy and fairness in assessments. Ultimately, it will boost county revenue and improve budgetary allocations to support development initiatives. I sincerely commend the Department of Lands for their commitment to compiling this vital data.
