@SquidgeRugby Dan Carter? At the same/similar age DC had 1 x WPOTY (3xnoms) was leading all-time test points scorer, 3 x SR titles, Top 14 champion (technically), 6 Tri-Nations/RCs, BI tour 2005, 2 x Grand Slams. This at least makes him close!

Even if you feel we can't give him GOAT status now, the facts that can't be argued with are nobody has ever been *close* to as good and as accomplished as Dupont by Dupont's age.

Richie McCaw won an average of 1.6 turnovers per game, and that was his job. Antoine Dupont this year has averaged 1.3, and he's a scrumhalf. I think a lot of people don't watch Dupont often enough to realise what a game-defying freak he's become, and he's still getting better.

AFL is all about protecting players, but the clearest tunneling free kick you'll ever see, where Blakey ends up nearly landing on his neck, doesn't get paid. Right. #AFLLionsSwans

@rugby_podcast That’s a very different collision if Daugunu lowers his knee, which he doesn’t even try to do. If you lead with your knee and collect someone in the head you’ll end up with a card pretty simple imo.

That’s an insane yellow card. The Georgian bloke just charged forward after kicking it. He was already in the air. Why do we hate 15 on 15 contests. Blows my mind. #AUSvGEO

@EBMgoneWILD @wmasjoshmiller In rural and regional settings (also known as places where you find more snakes…) this is absolutely a real thing. Not to mention the additional distance your patient may live from the ED. Not an issue in metro areas.

If you ever want to know Australian medical practise in a nutshell, here it is. "so --- discharges should only ever occur when they’re safe and well-lit." Nobody gets to go home after dark. Because monsters or something.

@Aidan_Baron @LucindaMith Underlying issues are incredible frustration, compassion fatigue, moral injury. As for anti-patient sentiment, I feel like there has been change of sorts. Frustration increasingly directed at JAS’ for poor use of resources. Big change in the last decade imo. Breach still wrong.

@LucindaMith The underlying issue is complex 1. Government and by extension JAS have no risk appetite 2. Paramedics have poor culture of anti-patient sentiment at the moment which is “cool” 3. Professionalism is not taught and then modelled effectively

Paramedics in australia continue to take photos of the mobile data terminal and post them to social media to complain about the jobs they are sent to. It’s unethical It’s unlawful It needs to stop You aren’t highlighting an important public issue You’re breaching privacy

I end up speaking to paramedic friends and collages every few months about doing medicine. Is it worth it? What’s the process like? “Should I do it?” And my answer is essentially these three things I’ve discovered and learned from others 1/ 🧵

@rugby_podcast The way Whitelock spun Tate onto his back so Ardie could hold him up was unbelievable & very deliberate. Whitelock playing like a late career McCaw, has lost the pace and stamina he once had but makes up for it with a world class rugby brain, picks his moments so well.

Ardie is a special player. That try saving tackle and a few turnovers (some dubious) were the difference. He truly is a special player. #NZLvAUS

@GoldDiggerRugby @RugbyAU V anecdotal, I overheard lots of convos along the lines of “I couldn’t name a single player, but remember George Gregan?” Lots of people with no interest turning up based on a legacy from early 2000s. Sad, because if we could get it together maybe some of them would come back?

@Nelsonhdale Imo the way the breakdown is ref’d these days is a minefield, pilfering = huge penalty risk. Forgoing a true on-ball 7 for some extra size in T.Hooper could be a good option in an Aus side that has struggled to match up physically.

@rugby_podcast @HuwTindall The next 5 years will make or break Australian rugby. If the game can’t capture hearts and minds of the sporting public here with a Lions tour and a home RWC, what hope does Union have? It’s do or die. We don’t even have to win. Just play entertaining footy with some consistentcy

@HuwTindall I think we will improve. Lots of injured players returning. Good signings and retention. Big 5 years ahead for Australian rugby. With that said. I think we will improve to 5th in the world. Our days of being consistently competitive with the big dogs seems very far away.

Loyal and passionate wallaby fan. Will support the team regardless of result and respect what the players do. Lots of fans want to find the positives out of that performance and talk about building to the WC. That’s fine, shows their passion and optimism. But some hard truths 1/6

So the gaps are 6/7 Lots of options here. Holloway/Hooper is the usual and safe option but this could be a spot to make change to tweak the way we play. What’s everyone’s preferred 6 & 7?
