Perhaps we don’t sufficiently stress the value of “pauses” in learning a new language.
I don’t know what’s going on the brain, but after a 2-3 month pause, I find I have consolidated more than I thought I had at the time.
At minimum, it’s a good morale boost.

I’ve been taking some much needed time out and getting on top of things like my health and some boat maintenance. I totally went off grid and lived as if it was 1950’s. Just my radio. I had to share how lovely Spring has been here. It’s slow, it’s gentle and it’s all I want now❤️

Quindi a meno che non sia lasciato libero di fare tutto di testa sua, e dubito che lo sia, gli altri fattori prevarranno.
Con questa guerra hanno accelerato la morte del petrodollaro.

Certo che se Trump non reagisse a modo a questo assalto al petrodollaro, optando invece per graduale de-escalation (vari fattori lo pressano), questa guerra sarebbe ricordata come uno dei più clamorosi autogol degli Usa.
Quando l'interesse altrui prevale su quello nazionale.

L'Iran ha iniziato a far passare dallo stretto di Hormuz solo chi paga il pedaggio in valuta cinese.
Montante al petrodollaro chiaramente suggerito da Pechino (che è la ragione invisibile dell'alta preparazione di Teheran in questa guerra) a cui Trump risponderà con violenza.

@MarcMargites Ho già letto di molti casi simili in Germania e Francia (alcuni conosciuti personalmente).
Se non ci fosse disoccupazione dilagante sarebbero molto di più.
Non è un caso che proprio nelle materie scientifiche non abbiano più candidati ai concorsi, quei profili hanno più scelta.

Si vede subito, dalla foto prescelta dalla professoressa, dove sia il problema: troppi libri, e nessuno "didattichese". Via dalle aule! Largo ai giovani! Largo ai veri strumenti della formazione digitale! Sarà un trionfo!

@kevinxu Mathematics as a degree but read the Classics from Ancient Rome and Greece (learning even the language is ideal but too time-consuming, let them to Classicists) and the classics from India and China.
Chinese language would be a big plus.
It's what I would do if I was 20 again.

Terence Tao's point is that science needs a high temperature setting. If we only fund and follow what's most state of the art today, we kill the ideas that might need decades of work to surpass some overall plateau.
