@sean09764512 @larryhostawards @mmpadellan Want to sound clever? Fail. Democracy simply means rule by the people, by the population, in Greek. The constitution literally starts with 'We the People'. Electoral college or not, America's leaders are chosen by votes by the People. You might want to keep it that way. Clown!

Dear Republicans, Adolf Hitler killed 6 million Jews. 141,000 Americans died fighting him and his Nazi Generals. Some of them were our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. It's totally OK to not agree that Hitler did some good things. It's also OK to totally SHUN Hitler, and say he's a murderous, Nazi piece of shit. Furthermore, anyone who praises, embraces, or emulates him and his Generals, through their words and actions, should be totally shunned as well. You definitely shouldn't vote for those people either. @Fredros_Inc Sure, capacity building in the disease'endemic countries is essential for many reasons Among which, talented, western-trained African scientists need to be able to put their skills to work and build research teams on their countries. This is happening but far more is needed.

Using genomics to find solutions to malaria ~ Across Africa, researchers are looking at the use of new technologies to curb the spread of malaria, but there are many challenges ~ "But we shouldn’t be talking about sending mosquitoes from Africa to Europe in 2024,” says Joel Odero, also a research scientist at Ifakara, as well as a doctoral candidate at the University of Glasgow. “We should be doing all these things, sequencing and analysing, locally, especially in the countries where this research is being done.” nature.com/articles/d4414… @odero_joe @UofGSBOHVM @Baldini_Fra @UofGlasgow @ifakarahealth

@seveneyes33 @peacick3 @jua30628 @JoJoFromJerz You CHOOSE not to believe that climate change is man made, and try to bend all arguments and evidence to your preferred outcome. It is the opposite of science and doesn't work! Believing in Santa does not guarantee you get your Christmas wish list.

Climate scientists for years: Unless we address climate change hurricanes will become unimaginably destructive! Republicans: Climate change is a hoax! It’s not the government’s job to control the weather! [enter hurricanes Helene and Milton] Republicans: No one ever imagined hurricanes could be this destructive! Is the government controlling the weather?

@seveneyes33 @peacick3 @jua30628 @JoJoFromJerz Straight up misinformation and nonsense. The reflection from any ensuiong clouds will NOT compensate for the greenhouse-driven warming. All this has been included in the climate models. And before you rubbish those, they have current trends spot-on, incl more severe storms.

@seveneyes33 @peacick3 @jua30628 @JoJoFromJerz I tried - it is pseudo-scientific babble, designed to confuse and sow doubt on the actual scientific evidence as published properly. You have no reputable source, nothing peer reviewed here. As I thought. "DRILL BABY DRILL" is infantile. Grow up!

Climate change - it exists after all, the CO2 saturation! When I claim this, I mean that the argumentation of climate science itself, as far as it is only consequently and, according to my conviction, correctly continued, leads to the clear insight that the atmosphere is saturated with CO2 with respect to the greenhouse effect. The following thread, whose final compilation will take some time, deals accordingly with the saturation hypothesis. I am removing the comment function for the time being until the argument is completed. Here is a brief summary: The CO2 saturation hypothesis expresses that CO2, as a radiatively active gas, does in principle make its contribution to the greenhouse effect, but that higher than present CO2 concentrations, and thus man-made CO2 emissions, do not or hardly enhance this effect. Skeptics argue that this is because the lower part of the atmosphere is already impermeable to the CO2-relevant part of the thermal radiation emitted from the earth's surface. In other words, the transmissivity of the atmosphere for the CO2-relevant part of the infrared spectrum is practically zero, below which it cannot fall further, even if the CO2 concentration continues to increase. Now, climate science correctly points out that in every penetrated layer, absorption and the accompanying weakening (reduction of transmissivity) of an outgoing ray is also associated with emission, because matter not only absorbs radiation, but also emits radiation. So in fact one is dealing not only with the weakening by local absorption but also with a strengthening by local emission. Further, one assumes that because of the temperature gradient in the troposphere, the outward emission there is less than the absorption, so that in the local balance there is still a weakening of the outgoing beam, whose strength therefore continues to decrease monotonically as it travels through the atmosphere, and with it the total transmissivity from the ground to a given altitude. However, it is clear that this weakening is smaller than the first one, the emissionless weakening, which exclusively follows Beer-Lambert's law. Therefore, it is advisable to distinguish the pure (Beer-Lambertian) transmissivity from the effective transmissivity, which takes into account not only the weakening by absorption but also the strengthening by emission. Finally, the claim of climate science is that in the question of CO2 saturation of the greenhouse effect, it is the effective transmissivity and not the pure transmissivity that is crucial. The assertion has far-reaching consequences, because the effective transmissivity is considerably larger, as described above. The greenhouse effect would thus be far from saturation, and ground-level temperatures would increase accordingly as long as atmospheric CO2 concentrations also continue to rise. I am convinced that one thing is clear, that neither the effect of one transmissivity nor the other on the greenhouse effect is really clear without further ado. I.e., both are just weak hypotheses for now. The aim of this thread is therefore to bring about such an understanding and finally to justify that climate science is wrong, namely that for the size of the greenhouse effect the pure transmissivity, unaltered by emission, is determinant, which, however, according to unanimous conviction, is already saturated in the CO2-relavant part of the spectrum. In fact, it will turn out that it is not directly the transmissivity itself that determines the greenhouse effect, but the aggregate (optical) thickness of the atmosphere across the entire IR spectrum, which conversely is ultimately determined by the relative size of the atmospheric window.

Carbon doesn't effect heat loss or gain. That's what new science has found. Heat and cold pass thru without restrictions. This is from molecular level experiments. Carbon has zero capacity to effect temperatures. The only effects that could come have to do with a different phenomenon altogether where very high saturation levels could cause temperature inversions between warmer and colder air which would trap heat and pollutants closer to the ground.

@seveneyes33 @peacick3 @jua30628 @JoJoFromJerz In what ways has the science changed? I am not fear-mongering, nor radical, but there are things that can sensibly be done and should be. Also no 'Dem'. Dutch scientist based in UK. No political agenda, just objective, sensible.

No, it doesn't have to start now. I support good clean and new technology, but this bullcrap about being at a point of no return etc.. I think it's horseshit and fear mongering. Renewable and clean energy is a no-brainer, but we can't be stupid about getting there. Dems are objectively being stupid about getting there. Yall have a hard-line position. The science has recently changed, but dems aren't pivoting with the science. They did the same with covid because they had ulterior motives

The trick for unity in this matter is the shared belief that protecting the earth is vital to living upon it. Renewable energy is a no-brainer going into the future, climate change or not. Cut out the climate change argument altogether. It's irrelevant. Focus on development and diversifying our grid. We need oil, but we're also on the precipice of a clean, renewable, free, and unlimited energy source breakthrough. Amazing new engines to create power are being developed that self sustain, amplify voltage, and take little energy to start up. Things that tap into the earth's magnetic sphere to actually add and increase power to the system and super conductors that have no energy loss across thousands of miles. There is literally zero energy loss from coast to coast. That is what we're on the precipice of.. It's gonna be ok.. The push should be toward good stewardship rather than climate change. The Bible says that "I will destroy those who destroy the earth." Christians are all about stewardship. That's how you unite the right and left going forward. We don't need to end fossil fuels immediately. We do need a balanced path forward.. national security is at risk here as well.. There's a give and take that we can accomplish in the paths that we take as we develop new technologies I'm all about it, but right now, it's time to drill, baby! MAGA

@seveneyes33 @JoJoFromJerz AI told you that, did it? The scientific consensus is clear and overwhelming: climate change IS driven by the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. We are in effect burning the accumulated carbon of millions of years of forest in 150 years. Not that complicated.

Man made climate change from carbon in the atmosphere has been disproven. Carbon in the atmosphere doesn't affect heat loss or gain. Climate change is happening because this current ice age is winding down, and we're in an interglacial period. There's nothing we can do about it. The climate will continue reverting to normal until a new ice age is triggered by another meteor strike or other event.

@Making_of_a_Mom @sigiumETH @NbergWX Maybe if people instead turned to science and the known solutions to climate change, that would be more helpful than praying to a non-existent deity! There is cause and there is effect, as can be calculated and predicted. Hotter oceans cause stronger storms, it's simple. DUH!

8PM EDT: This is nothing short of astronomical. I am at a loss for words to meteorologically describe you the storms small eye and intensity. 897mb pressure with 180 MPH max sustained winds and gusts 200+ MPH. This is now the 4th strongest hurricane ever recorded by pressure on this side of the world. The eye is TINY at nearly 3.8 miles wide. This hurricane is nearing the mathematical limit of what Earth's atmosphere over this ocean water can produce.
