@harryistepanian @KonulikShahin Or to put it another way…Armenia was worried Turkey might intervene to prevent Armenian occupation of Azerbaijan, so having Russian troops there prevented that and allowed Armenian forces to redeploy to NK.

The site featured a white marble bell tower and a reliquary containing remains from Deir ez-Zor, a location central to the memory of the genocide. Satellite imagery from Airbus and Planet Labs shows the complex was destroyed between July 2025 and April 2026, pointing to a deliberate, coordinated operation rather than incidental damage. Experts say the destruction violates international cultural protection norms and reflects an ongoing effort to erase Armenian historical presence in Artsakh. Calls for a concrete international response are growing.
