@CarlZha ...munitions, the velocity is much lower (subsonic), so you need more hardness. Tungsten carbide is up close to diamond in hardness, but easier to form into specific shapes & less brittle.

@CarlZha Uranium may be heavy like tungsten, but it's not as hard - that makes a big difference when you want to penetrate surfaces. FSDS tank penetrator rounds rely on extremely high velocity which becomes heat & melts through the armor; for lower velocity pellets like anti-drone...

China banned tungsten export. US military is not gonna be able to restock their arsenal any time soon. Good luck finding replacement!
