But what do you think? Should registering as an organ donor give you an advantage if you need a transplant yourself? This is obviously a complicated topic, and everyone will have different opinions, so I would love to hear from you no matter which side you take.

Let's talk about organ transplants. Right now, there are nearly 114,000 patients on the U.S. transplant waitlist. Every day, 20 of them die. But despite the urgent need and overwhelming support for transplantation, only 58% of Americans are actually registered as organ donors.

Of course, Israel’s system has its problems, too. For example, it currently awards priority points if your relatives sign up as donors, regardless of whether you register yourself. I think this is wrong. Contracts like this should depend only on the mutual consent of individuals.
