But The GOSAT Satellites that accurately measure the actual near surface carbon dioxide flux show that Australia adsorbs a net 788 megatons of carbon dioxide from the air and doesn't need to spend a cent on reducing its carbon dioxide emissions.

This is beautiful and relates to something I learned a long time ago. Let me share it for those who don´t mind long posts!! I´m 79 and I have always appreciated what nature and especially trees showed me that I can learn from a tree—and how much it had to say to me over the course of my life. For a tree to grow, it must first be buried in the dark earth—unseen, alone, seemingly forgotten. I felt like that a lot in my very early years, never knew my father, Mom always working, me practically alone with my brother. One day, I was 8, I sat with my Grandfather and as best as I could at that time I expressed those feelings to him. He took my hand and we went to the park. We sat down under the tree everyone called Big Max—a huge oak tree with a massive trunk and canopy of long branches and he gave me a lesson that I never forgot and I would remember all during my life. I have refined it over the years and share it as he did with those I love and great friends that have entered my life and some as they were leaving life. He started by picking up one of the seed pods. He told me to dig a small hole; he gave me the seed pod and told me to bury it. And from there my life lesson began—here it is: From that hidden dark and buried place, the seed will crack and begin to grow roots and will slowly push upwards through soil and stone, year after year to become a sapling—young and alone but getting bigger and stronger every day. It endures every season of life: • the fresh hope of spring and new growth, • the warm joy of summer sun, • the quiet changes of autumn, • and the bare, still beauty of winter when all leaves fall away. Over decades it weathers storms, floods, fire, ice, pruning, and loss. It stands through times of peace and times of trouble. And all the while, it offers shade and shelter to thousands of people—travelers, children, birds, and weary souls—who rest beneath its branches without ever knowing the quiet strength it took to become what it is. It stands every test, natural disaster and upheaval over all its life and he said, here we are and it is still right here were we were sitting. He told me to be like Big Max and keep growing, experiencing life and stand and endure no matter what comes my way and let my rings of life keep accumulating and no matter what happens or how old I am, to just keep standing, keep enduring and even at 100 years old-like Big Max, the tree isn’t “done” and neither will I be done. He said, we are never done my boy—not unless we give in to life—you and I are made to endure, to survive life and whatever it brings to us to face. Big Max is a living witness to life itself—carrying rings of joy and sorrow, growth and loss, inside its very heartwood. His value isn’t in being young or fast or flashy. His and our deepest relevance comes from simply standing tall, offering what only a mature tree, our lives can give: depth, stability, beauty, and quiet refuge for others. He said you and I are like that tree, me especially (he was 83) I’ve been through the dark soil of early years, the storms, the pruning, the changing seasons,good times and horrible times, war and peace, new life and the loss of lives I loved and cherished. I’ve known both sun and shadow. And because of all I’ve lived, I carry something important to share with you and you will have it to share one day with your children and grandchildren—like I am sharing with you--- this lesson is inside me, it has helped guide me all my life and now it will be inside you—let it guide you and you will have wisdom, stories, kindness, and a steady presence that your children and grandchildren will need. Now at 79 I still see us sitting under Big Max and feel relevant to those I love and friends I cherish. That lesson told me that life brings many things to all of us and we are made to endure, to stand and be strong and that even age does not have to be limiting in terms of my value, it means I’ve grown over time into the fullness of what a human life can offer. The world still needs the value of our “rings” of life. So stand tall, endure as my Grandfather´s lesson ended that day.
