ORIIRE RESCUE: OUR SECURITY FORCES CAN DEFEAT CRIMINALS WITH STRONG POLITICAL BACKING I warmly commend the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and all other security personnel involved in the successful rescue of the victims abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State after about 50 days in captivity. This operation once again proves what I have always believed, that Nigeria's security forces have the capacity to defeat criminal gangs when they receive clear political direction, sustained support and unwavering National resolve. I have never doubted the ability of our Defence Forces to secure our country. What has often been lacking is clarity of purpose and consistent political leadership. Our military has demonstrated this capability before. In Liberia and Sierra Leone, Nigerian troops under the ECOMOG mission played decisive roles in ending devastating conflicts and restoring peace. The same professionalism and courage exist today within our security institutions. The success recorded in Oriire must not remain an isolated achievement. It should become the template for a coordinated nationwide offensive against kidnappers, terrorists, bandits and other violent criminal groups. The same determination that secured the freedom of the Oriire victims must now be deployed across every community where innocent Nigerians remain in captivity, including parts of Kwara, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau and Kebbi States. No family should be abandoned when the Nigerian State has the capacity to act. Above all, we must now take the fight decisively to terrorists occupying different parts of our country through an integrated National Security strategy aimed at ending the terrorist war against our people. I congratulate the officers and men of our Armed Forces, the Police and the DSS for their courage, professionalism and sacrifice. Their success has renewed hope and strengthened public confidence in our security institutions. I also congratulate the rescued victims and their families and pray for their complete physical, emotional and psychological recovery from this traumatic ordeal. Nigeria can defeat insecurity. What is required is the political will to match the courage and professionalism of our security forces.

Today, I appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja to defend and protect the mandate freely and overwhelmingly given to me by members of the Accord Party at our affirmative presidential primary held on May 30, 2026. This is not just about one individual; it is about upholding the rule of law, internal party democracy, and the sanctity of the mandate freely given by party members. I remain confident in the judicial process and trust that justice will prevail. To God be all the Glory!

Walking Through History at Gorée Island, Senegal Last weekend, I had the privilege of visiting Gorée Island, a small island located about twenty minutes by boat from Dakar, Senegal. It is a place of immense historical significance and deep emotional impact. The Portuguese established themselves on the island in 1444, and over the centuries, Gorée became one of the most notorious centers of the transatlantic slave trade. By the time slavery was abolished, an estimated two million captives had passed through this island on their tragic journey to Europe and the Americas. What struck me most was the realization that many of those taken were not slaves before their capture. Among them were princes, princesses, community leaders, and ordinary men, women, and children whose lives were abruptly torn apart. They were forced into bondage and compelled to provide free labour for their captors. Later, in the 18th century, Gorée came under French control and evolved into an important port for the export of peanuts. Yet, its most enduring legacy remains the painful story of human suffering and resilience. During my visit, I toured the dungeons and cells where men, women, boys, and girls were held separately before being shipped to different destinations. Families were cruelly separated, often never to see one another again. Standing in those confined spaces was a sobering reminder of one of humanity's darkest chapters. Gorée Island is more than a historical site; it is a monument to memory, resilience, and the enduring quest for human dignity. It reminds us of the importance of preserving history, confronting painful truths, and ensuring that such atrocities are never repeated. #GoreeIsland #Senegal #AfricanHistory #NeverForget #HumanDignity #SlaveTradeHistory

Deregistration Of Parties Confirms Plot To Undermine Democracy, Says Olawepo-Hashim Referring specifically to the Federal High Court’s order directing the deregistration of the ADC, Accord Party and three other political parties, Hashim described the ruling as the most significant step yet in what he alleged was a wider plan to shrink Nigeria’s democratic space. “This is not only to destabilise the parties, but to ensure that the parties are not able to survive the illegal INEC processes to ensure only Tinubu can be a viable candidate. share.google/lhJRaXfWP0jpbt… #fyi #viral #fyp #fy
