I scored 52 on the January 26th exam. While everyone found it difficult, I felt that I only managed to answer one question properly. For the rest, I struggled to reach a clear conclusion. It honestly feels like the paper was designed with a specific agenda in mind—it's hard to understand the difficulty until you've actually faced it yourself

@Hashtrades07 @dineshwadera Paper was tough but not out of syllabus and ICAI gave hint by raising level of AFM and IBS in Jan 26 . Now after this 2 attempts students will learn more seriously and definitely level of future CA will improve. Problem is that students r heavily dependent on coaching

ICAI’s recent CA Final AFM paper has sparked strong reactions, but maybe this shift was long overdue. For decades, the CA curriculum has been heavily focused on Accounting, Audit, and Tax, while Finance remained relatively under emphasised. Meanwhile, global qualifications like ACCA and CFA Institute have built strong depth in finance, creating real competition for CAs in both Indian and global job markets. If we objectively look at the AFM paper, nothing was out of syllabus. The difference is that ICAI has now started testing areas that were earlier ignored or lightly touched. In today’s global economy, finance professionals need to be comfortable with advanced, practical, and internationally relevant concepts. ICAI aligning its exam pattern with these expectations is not a problem, it’s progress. Yes, the transition is uncomfortable. But the real issue may not be the paper, it’s whether we (including faculties) are fully prepared for this shift. These types of questions are standard in ACCA and CFA. If Indian CAs want to stay competitive globally, this evolution is necessary. Change is always resisted first, but often, it’s exactly what was needed.
