[🟢] @JacobsBen on what next for Liverpool for this summer: “From Liverpool’s perspective, replacing Salah has always been something they’ve been planning for. Liverpool prefer to have a transition, so after about a year the hope is you start to think who have you got coming through, or who can you sign. Finding a right-sided attacker has always been on Liverpool’s radar. But the left as well. Liverpool wanted to do that on the left-hand side with Luis Díaz, but he was insistent on going to Bayern, so Liverpool respected that. Now they need to think in the summer about somebody that can play on the left-hand side. Liverpool are going to be busy with wide players and maybe versatile names that can play on both sides. There is appreciation for players like Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but no indication that a sale is on the cards. There is historical interest in Anthony Gordon, but Liverpool are just assessing their options. It is inevitable Liverpool are going to once again spend big.”

Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into this game, especially helping me tons on the project of making my icon outfit come to life. Game wouldn’t be the same without you. Hope you find something you love that you can pursue in the future like you did with Fortnite. ❤️

[🟢] NEW: Liverpool are preparing for Mohamed Salah's succession. The club is targeting two wingers for next season. Michael Olise is at the top of ALL short-lists of major European clubs, but Bayern Munich doesn't want to see him leave. Several youngsters like Yan Diomandé or Francisco Conceição are being monitored. Last year, Liverpool had shown interest in the Parisian Bradley Barcola, who is currently in negotiations with PSG to extend his contract, which runs until 2028. Discussions being closely followed by the big clubs, on the lookout in case of an unfavorable outcome. [@FabriceHawkins]

On Mo Salah and Saudi, important to note most clubs can't make their move yet until the 2026/27 seasonal budget is allocated. Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas has made it clear there is no club yet lined up and serious talks are yet to begin with anyone for this summer. Saudi dealmakers have been keen on Salah since 2023 when Al-Ittihad made a bid worth £100m plus £50m in add ons. This was immediately turned down by Mike Gordon via a phone call. Salah was viewed back then as becoming the poster boy of the new Saudi Pro League project and was offered lucrative terms in the ballpark of Cristiano Ronaldo's salary. Al-Hilal have also shown a strong interest in the past in Salah, particularly prior to the Egyptian signing his new two year Liverpool contract in April 2025. Sources close to the Saudi Pro League reveal they were anticipating paying a fee when the season started and expected to face competition from MLS clubs. For Saudi clubs, Salah becoming a free transfer still presents a significant cost via wages, and signing on and agent fees, which most can't shoulder without central support, but the lack of transfer fee could tempt European suitors who would only have done a deal in 2027 previously. The only way for the majority of Saudi clubs to sign Salah without central funding is to use private investment, which was the case when Al-Hilal signed Karim Benzema with the support of Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz. Despite perceptions all Saudi clubs have these kind of investors, very few do at the scale required to land a player like Salah. The one club that is an exception to this rule or approach is Aramco-owned Al-Qadsiah, who have Brendan Rodgers as their manager and funds in place to do business that is not reliant on Ministry support. Senior Saudi Pro League sources admit several clubs are interested in Salah but caution against the league itself signing off on a transfer unless a return on the investment can be justified. League officials wanted to sign Salah last summer to coincide with a new TV rights cycle in the hope of gaining a lucrative deal in Egypt. That ship has now sailed. Salah is understood to have wanted to reach a mutual agreement with Liverpool to part ways and announce his departure on his own terms prior to formally exploring his next step, and that’s partly why nothing is lined up.🇪🇬

Main bits from Axel Hesse’s article earlier: • Arne Slot is likely to be sacked after Liverpool’s poor run, with a decision expected by the summer. • Xabi Alonso is the top target to replace him but does not want to join mid-season. • Liverpool have been tracking Alonso since 2024 and kept in regular contact. • Alonso is open to joining if he is given strong control over transfers and squad planning. • His experience at Real Madrid made Xabi Alonso cautious about timing and control, which is why he does not want to take over during the season. • Liverpool see his return as a major opportunity to improve the squad’s performance. m.bild.de/sport/fussball…

[🟢] BREAKING: Xabi Alonso is ready for Liverpool. If Liverpool submit a concrete offer, he will accept – provided his conditions are met in advance. These centre on his influence over squad planning. A year ago at Real Madrid, he had agreed despite his wishes (a proper centre-forward and a central midfielder) being dismissed before signing. That will not happen again. His decision to take over at Real ahead of the Club World Cup in the summer – against his own convictions – also proved to be a valuable lesson. After a 0–4 defeat to PSG in the new FIFA tournament, he was already under pressure before preparations for the 2025/26 season had even begun. That is why taking over Liverpool for the final stretch of the league and Champions League campaign is not an option for Alonso. He was dismissed by Real in mid-January. Since then, Liverpool have been intensifying their efforts to bring him in. Alonso’s return to Anfield is seen as the best possible chance to get the top-class squad firing again. [Axel Hesse, @BILD]
