@SoulAligned This is real. Growth often feels unsafe because calm is unfamiliar.

Black tax keeps wealth from growing one urgent request at a time.
Black tax is the unspoken financial burden many black professionals face the expectation to support extended family once they start earning.
It is the WhatsApp message that starts with “Hi just checking on you…” and ends with “Can you help me with small something?”
It is sending part of your salary home every month not because you qre careless but because you are carrying generations on your back.
A first generation graduate lands a job in the city. Suddenly they are responsible for rent back home, siblings’ tuition, food money for parents, hospital bills everything. Their paycheck does not just sustain them it sustains a system built on survival. And while they are proud to help, it slows their own progress no savings, no investments, no budgeting just constant giving.
Black tax is not just financial it is emotional. You feel guilty for wanting to grow. You are told success means nothing if you are not helping everyone even if it breaks you.
How To Handle Black tax
• Set clear boundaries: You can love your family and still say no. Helping does not mean self destruction.
• Create structure: Instead of random requests set up a monthly support budget or family fund. That way everyone knows what to expect.
• Teach financial education : Real change happens when the next generation learns to earn, save, budget and invest not just depend.
• Build assets : Support projects that create income a small business, a farm, or skill training instead of one off bailouts.
• Collaborate: Siblings can share responsibilities. It should not all fall on one person.
The goal is not to cut off your roots it is to build strong enough branches so everyone can stand tall without leaning too heavy on one person.
Be honest has black tax ever slowed down your financial goals ?

@ResolvedLeader This works because it forces trade offs.
If everything’s a priority, nothing is.

@LewisHowes Everyone wants “proof” after 10 episodes.
He hit 1M downloads after 400 episodes.
That’s the part nobody posts.
The real edge isn’t talent. It’s tolerance:
* tolerance for silence
* tolerance for slow momentum
* tolerance for being early
