Shop life: printing a large run of posters on our circa 1900 Miehle Pony calls for a lot of ink. For this job, to get the right shade of blue, we needed more white ink—the runniest ink we work with. Just for fun, we mixed in the sounds of shop life for your listening pleasure.

Shop life: a true rainbow roll! Typically, a press inked to print a background with more than one color is called a split-fountain or rainbow roll. We do enjoy using all of the colors of ink, sometimes all at once!

Shop life: in the shared work areas, such as the printing presses, when someone is working on something that should not be moved, we put a little sign on it that simply says “Live.” This array of ink will be appearing on large-format prints coming to our gift shop this summer.
