Took my son to the beach today, when I was a kid it was donkey rides, ice creams, donuts, arcades and rollercoasters. Proper British seaside. Today it’s niqabs, groups of young men who clearly aren’t from here and a completely different atmosphere. Even in Wales the change has been rapid, in Cardiff, White British fell from around 88% in 2001 to just 73.6% in 2021, one in six people in Cardiff were born outside the UK, the Muslim population there is now 9.3% over four times the Welsh average. The country my son is growing up in already looks and feels very different to the one I grew up in. My son deserves the country I once knew.
