Haunted Universe

“Scarpetta” started streaming on Amazon Prime, so I sampled a bit of Episode 1. I’ve been reading Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta series since the ’90s, so I was really looking forward to this. But I couldn’t stop thinking about THE X-FILES, so I switched to that instead. So tonight again, I watched episodes of THE X-FILES written (or contributed to) by Vince Gilligan: Season 3 Episode 17 “Pusher” and Season 4 Episode 12 “Leonard Betts.” Both were great. Especially “Leonard Betts”, I didn’t see that coming at all. Since I still felt like watching more, I continued with Season 3 Episode 20, Darin Morgan’s “Jose Chung’s ‘From Outer Space.’”Is this even allowed?! I was stunned. It felt surreal, like something strange had just happened. This was so fresh. 🛸

Fugazi have finally released the long-unheard version of In on the Kill Taker they recorded with Steve Albini in 1992. The sessions were shelved for decades, but have now been officially unveiled from the original master tapes. Available on Bandcamp, the digital release serves as a tribute to Albini, with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit Letters Charity.
