Today, we remember and honor the lives lost on this day 22 years ago. Let us never forget the first responders, the victims, and how our nation came together that fateful day in compassion, unity, and strength. May their memory be honored.

The Hawai‘i State Legislature held a press conference today to officially commemorate the month of September as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Month for the state. Mahalo to the Hawai‘i FASD Action Group and community advocates who came out to raise awareness on this issue.

As of August 31, all donated items have either been sent to Maui or are in the distribution networks geared towards the wildfire victims. Mahalo nui loa for supporting our ʻohana in Maui!

Last week, members of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means visited multiple venues on Maui and Molokaʻi where they were greeted by State officials and community members who provided tours and presentations. Mahalo to all of those who hosted the Senate on Maui and Molokaʻi!

Aloha Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea! Today is Sovereignty Restoration Day for Hawaiʻi, established as an official Hawaiian national holiday by King Kamehameha III on July 31, 1843. "Ua mau ke ea o ka ʻāina i ka pono" (the sovereignty/breath of our land is perpetuated through justice).

Today, the Senate Committee on Ways and Means & Health and Human Services visited the Pūlama Ola Medical Respite Kauhale and the ʻImi Ola Piha Homeless Triage Center at the Institute for Human Service.

Next sets of bills signed by @GovJoshGreenMD is the State's efforts to protect Hawaiʻi's beautiful shorelines. Bills signed today range from enhancing transparency about the shoreline erosion to establishing a drone aircraft systems program for water pollution control.

Today, Gov Green signed 11 bills into law that support education initiatives in Hawai'i! Some of the bills include authorization and funding for teacher housing, expanding the Preschool Open Doors program , & the creation of a program to assist childcare providers get accredited.

Two more bills were signed into law today by @GovJoshGreenMD! HB954 aims to give $104 million of income support to local taxpayers through increased tax credits. HB300 is the State Budget for the new fiscal biennium, allocating money to follow the Legislature's key priorities.

In an effort to rebuilt the public trust in government, @GovJoshGreenMD has signed 18 "Good Government" bills with the goals of creating more transparency in government. #hawaiistatesenate #hawaii
