Wishing our friends at @HawickCR a great virtual Common Riding today. The committee have done a fantastic job and it’s well worth having a look at their videos and virtual concerts. Here’s a few photos of our Braw Lad and Attendants riding at the Common Riding 2019 🏁

The Hawick Common Riding commemorates the capture of a flag from English plunderers by the youth of Hawick in 1514 & the ancient custom of riding the marches or boundaries of the common land. Records of the Common Riding principals go back to 1703.

Normally at this time of year a fascinating programme of Borders common ridings would begin with @HawickCR. We would usually wish riders #SafeOotSafeIn, but to keep people #SafeIn these current times organisers have worked hard to create a virtual Hawick Common Riding instead.
