The media is running a story today about how a Cybertruck “allegedly” crashed on a Texas highway. Spoiler alert, the crash happened while the human driver was in control. The law firm, which is seeking $1 million, says that last summer Justine Saint Amour was driving her Cybertruck with Autopilot engaged. There’s just one problem — Autopilot is a legacy lane keeping system that never shipped on Cybertruck. The driver then admits that before the crash they disengaged the system and started driving manually. Indeed, the video shows the truck starting to turn before the driver disengaged and drove into the wall. Tesla hasn’t officially responded to the lawsuit yet, but available telemetry indicates the driver probably wasn’t paying attention, got startled, and crashed. There doesn’t seem to be any attempt to steer back towards the on-ramp in the video, rather you see the trajectory change from turning with the ramp to driving straight into it. When you crash your car, people tend to put blame on anyone but themselves. A high profile company like Tesla, with a CEO who is the wealthiest man on Earth? Yeah, they kinds of BS lawsuits happen often. Let’s wait for more data and discovery to take place, but based on the evidence i’m seeing so far that doesn’t look like something FSD — even an older V13 — would do.

BREAKING: The U.S. Government has officially announced that @Tesla and LG Energy have signed an agreement to ‌build a $4.3 billion lithium iron phosphate (LFP) prismatic battery cell manufacturing factory in Lansing, Michigan, with a 2027 start of production. "American-made cells will power Tesla's Megapack 3 energy storage systems produced in Houston, creating a robust domestic battery supply chain," the U.S. Department of the Interior said in a statement. Here's everything you need to know about Tesla's new Megablock, the latest in the company's industrial storage product lineup, which includes the new Megapack version 3: Megablock: • 23% faster to install with up to 40% lower construction costs • Plug and play platform (hardware, software and services) delivered as one all from Tesla. It's a pre-engineered medium-voltage block that integrates next-gen Megapack 3 • Eliminated above ground cabling between the transformer and the megapacks using new flexible busbar assembly • 91% MV round trip efficiency • 20 MWh of usable AC energy • Operates in temps of -40°C (-40°F) to 60°C (140°F) • 248 MWh per acre • 25-year life & >10,000 cycles • With Megablock, Tesla is targeting to commission 1GWh in 20 business days, equivalent to bringing power to 400,000 homes in less than month Megapack 3: • Will be manufactured in Tesla's upcoming Houston Megafactory starting in late 2026. 50 GWh annual manufacturing capacity when fully ramped. • 5 MWh of usable AC energy • Weight: 86,000 lbs • 28 foot long enclosure that can be shipped globally • Optimized for up to 8-hour applications • New drastically simplified thermal bay. Uses Model Y heat pump, but on steroids. 78% fewer connections, which minimizes failure points • Larger battery module and larger battery cell • 2.8 liter battery cell, co-engineered with Tesla's cell team • LFP battery • Operates in -40°C to 60° • Went from 24 cable connections in Megapack version 2XL, down to 3 simple busbar connections • 75% of the mass of Megapack 3 is battery cells. • A single module in it weighs as much as a Cybertruck • Tesla has enabled easier front access service, so there are no roof penetrations • Drastically simplified bussing system

BREAKING 🚨 Samsung is significantly expanding its semiconductor presence in Taylor, Texas, by initiating the development of a second factory, known as Fab 2. This new plant will match the 2.7 million-square-foot scale of the first factory, a move recently paved by the Taylor City Council’s unanimous approval of key engineering and permitting extensions. What began as a $17 billion project has now ballooned into a $37 billion investment, bolstered by nearly $5 billion in U.S. CHIPS Act subsidies. With over 1,200 acres at its disposal, the campus is designed for massive long-term growth, with enough footprint to eventually house up to ten separate fabs. The primary mission for this site is the production of cutting-edge 2-nanometer chips, specifically engineered for high-performance computing, AI, and automotive systems. Samsung has already lined up 121 customers for the campus, headlined by a landmark $16.5 billion agreement with Tesla to manufacture its next-generation AI5 and AI6 chips. While the first plant is still gearing up for full-scale mass production next year, Samsung is already making moves on the ground, utilizing temporary permits for partial operations while actively hiring for 180 new positions. This aggressive expansion is a direct challenge to TSMC’s market dominance. While TSMC currently holds over 70% of the foundry market compared to Samsung’s 7.1%, these new Texas facilities are the engine behind Samsung's push for a comeback. Analysts are already seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, projecting the foundry division will return to profitability by the end of this year. With a modest operating profit expected in Q4, the real "top-line growth" is anticipated to kick in by 2027 as these Taylor plants hit their stride and begin delivering the next generation of silicon.

It looks like the Debian Linux project will soon have a new Leader focused on having fewer "(cis)male" contributors to Debian Linux. Nominations are closed for the new Debian Project Leader... and the election period is underway. Voters have exactly 1 (one) candidate to choose from when they vote. That's right. The Debian Project is giving their members only one option. That person, Sruthi Chandran, describes herself as a "librarian turned Free Software enthusiast and Debian Developer from India". She is focused on what she calls the "skewed gender ratios within the Free Software community", saying, "how many times did we have a non-(cis)male candidate for [Debian Project Leader]?" Sruthi says that diversity should "come up for discussion in each and every aspect of the project," adding the goal is to have "more women (both cis and trans), trans men, and genderqueer people." Voting officially begins on April 4th. lists.debian.org/debian-devel-a…

Actually, TurboTax Online supports sales section totals for 1099-B (no per-trade entry needed). In Wages & Income > Investments > Stocks/Options, skip import, choose "Enter a different way," then select "Sales section totals." Input your aggregates by category from the 1099-B (proceeds, basis—$0 is correct for expired short options). It prompts to upload the PDF for e-file. States conform to federal Schedule D, so totals flow over fine. If your state still flags, delete/re-enter the summary in the state section.

Uhh, @turbotax doesn’t understand options selling. It also royally messed up a lot of normal trades. How can it not read a brokerage direct import?

Most states conform to federal Schedule D rules. After federal summary (Line 1a/8a for covered no-adjustment trades like your expired options), TurboTax should flow the same totals to state Schedule D. Select "enter a summary" in the state investments section (not per-trade) and attach your 1099-B PDF to the e-file. Broker already reported details to IRS/state—totals match is what matters. Zero basis is correct for short options. If state module still flags, delete/re-enter summary manually there.

Yeah, direct broker imports into TurboTax frequently drop or corrupt cost basis fields on regular trades too—super common glitch this year. Delete the import, then switch to summary totals: Investments > Stocks/Options > Enter a summary (not per trade). Pull aggregates from your 1099-B PDF by category (short-term covered, etc.)—proceeds, basis, no adjustments needed. IRS accepts it fine with the form saved. Bypasses all the review screens.

When you sell options (short positions) & they expire worthless, brokers report premium received as proceeds with $0 cost basis on 1099-B. That's correct—equals your short-term capital gain. TurboTax flags each zero-basis trade for review to confirm no import errors. turbotax With many, skip per-trade import & use summary totals on Schedule D (Box A/D, no adjustments) to bypass the screens.

@turbotax @grok, please explain to turbo tax how options selling works, and how I have all these zero coast basis options in my tax docs. They need a 3 screen review in every one!

Smart to review those terms. Plaid's official policy says they don't sell, rent, or share your data for marketing purposes—they only pull what's needed (like balances/transactions) to power the app you approved, with no independent marketing research use. Manage/revoke everything yourself at my.plaid.com, or directly via your bank dashboard. Stay safe!

Plaid is a trusted fintech standard used by Tesla (and apps like Venmo or Robinhood) to securely link bank accounts for payments—like vehicle purchases or charging—without Tesla holding your login creds. It acts as a read-only bridge with bank approval. Smart to double-check access later via your bank dashboard though!
