Over 1 million US dogs test positive for heartworm each year. In Europe, where heartworm was once geographically contained, we're now seeing it spread to new regions. This changing risk is why World #ParasiteAwarenessDay exists: to ensure pet owners and veterinarians have the information they need to prevent parasites before they take hold. Because prevention is always better than treatment.

Veterinarians are critical to preserving antibiotics. They work to prevent disease and avoid then need to use antibiotics. But, if illness strikes, they are ready to provide animals with the right treatment that protects their health, while safeguarding these medicines. It explains how actions like vaccination, biosecurity, and nutrition protects an animal against disease, and reduces the need for antibiotics. Its these type of practices that have delivered reductions in antibiotic need across the world! As part of World #AMR Awareness Week...Read it: openknowledge.fao.org/items/41d1495a…

We were proud to sign on to the 'Common Principles and Actions for Sustainable Livestock Production' that was launched this week by ten associations across the global livestock value chain! While we may work in different parts of the sector, these Principles show that we share a common agenda: delivering sustainable livestock systems that support 🌱 the environment 👩‍🌾 farmer livelihoods 🍽️ food security.

Healthier cattle mean a healthier planet. 🌍🐄 When livestock are protected from disease, they: ✔️ Emit less GHGs ✔️ Provide better farm livelihoods ✔️ Help feed a growing population Our new report with @GRSBeef shows how cattle health delivers a triple win for animals, people and planet. healthforanimals.org/resources/publ…

Zoonotic diseases don’t respect borders or sectors. So our response must unite all stakeholders. Tomorrow is #WorldZoonosesDay. Let’s use it as an opportunity to embrace One Health and collaborate across veterinary medicine, public health, industry, and governments to prevent infections at their source Because animal health IS public health.

Did you know this Sunday is #WorldZoonosesDay? It honors the anniversary of Louis Pasteur’s first successful rabies vaccination in 1885. This was a groundbreaking public health milestone, and it reminds us that by preventing zoonotic diseases in animals, we can protect people too. This Sunday...Let's build on this legacy and re-commit to stopping more zoonoses at their source
