@hsfbarbados Ultra-Processed Foods (UPFs) are not consistent with the intent of the School Nutrition Policy, and that includes how sporting events are sponsored. 🚫 Sponsorship of school sports comes with responsibility. Responsible and carefully aligned sponsorship of school sporting events is essential, particularly when commercial messaging can easily be misunderstood or misinterpreted by young audiences. Schools across the Caribbean are taking a stance. Well done Saint Lucia @SaintLuciaGov ... Laborie Boys' and Laborie Girls' Primary Schools Joined Forces for 'Twòp Sik Pa Bon' Health Walk As part of activities marking World Obesity Day and World Kidney Day 2026, students from the Laborie Boys and Laborie Girls Primary Schools joined forces for an interactive health walk through the streets of Laborie. Armed with placards and chants, the young health ambassadors brought messages on healthy eating and lifestyle directly to residents and businesses in the village. The walk was held under the theme "Twòp Sik Pa Bon" , a rallying call for the reduction of sugar-sweetened beverages and unhealthy dietary habits. As the students moved through the village, they chanted health messages and engaged with community members and business owners along the route. #healthycaribbean

💧 Big Soda is depleting water sources in areas where water is scarce. This not only threatens water access but also fuels sugary drinks consumption, leading to poorer health in these communities. This needs to stop. Let's #KickBigSodaOutOfSport

Students are powerful voices for change. At the Youth Health Summit on March 4, 2026, students from the Alexandra School shared what they learned about making healthier choices and why it matters for their future. When young people understand the importance of good nutrition, regular physical activity, and healthy habits, they become advocates for healthier schools, families, and communities. Their voices remind us that empowering youth is one of the most powerful ways to build a healthier Barbados. #YouthHealthSummit246 #healthyyouth246 #hsfbarbados

Several #Caribbean countries have had their budgets for 2026-2027 delivered. One thing remains certain - Non-Communicable diseases continue to be costly in more ways than one. Preventative measures are needed to reduce the onset especially in younger age groups and there is a balance required in the management of those existing cases of NCDs, including #obesity #diabetes #hypertension where medication costs are high. Prime Minister of Barbados, the Honourable Mia Amor Mottley @miaamormottley shares her thoughts on the scourge of NCDs. #healthycaribbean

Strong health habits start early. At the Youth Health Summit on March 4, 2026, Mrs. Greta Yearwood, Chief Executive Officer of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados, reminded us that schools play a critical role in shaping lifelong health. Every healthy meal served, every opportunity for movement and every positive choice help build the foundation for healthier adults and stronger communities. When we invest in healthy school environments, we invest in the future of Barbados. #HealthyYouth246 #YouthHealthSummit246 #hsfbarbados
