Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

The name Favour has a special place in our history. Our first ever dog was called Favour and he travelled across the UK with our first trainer Tony Blunt to raise awareness of the charity. It is also the name of our supporter magazine. Favour has done the name so proud ❤️

A big celebration for a very clever Cockapoo with a very special name... Huge congratulations to Favour, who has passed her assessment to be a hearing dog 🥳 Favour has had a wonderful team behind her throughout training and we know she is going to change her partner's life.

Waiting patiently isn't always easy 🐕‍🦺 Marco visited the supermarket as part of the final stage of his hearing dog training. He did a super job working on his 'Down' whilst waiting for his volunteer to browse the shelves. Well done Marco! 🐾🥰

In the early stages of his hearing dog training, little Arthur has been working on his basic cues and has already mastered his 'Sit' 🐶 He did brilliantly practising on his walk and showed lovely focus on his volunteer. Keep it up Team Arthur 🎉

Our pups are out doing all the things that bring them joy this #InternationalDayOfHappiness 🥰 Albert is loving his puzzle toy, Greta is off to the seaside, and Fergal found the biggest, muddiest puddle to play in. Plus sponsor pup Iggy is full of zoomies! 🐾

Olive isn't fazed by any of the characters she meets on her trips, not even one of the three little pigs 🐷 It's all part of her training as she might come across unusual objects when out with her future deaf partner, so it's important Olive isn't fazed by anything strange 🐾🥰

Gaston is a real diamond 💎 In the final stages of his hearing dog training, Gaston's visiting public places he might visit with his future deaf partner, including the jewellers. He did a great job keeping his focus and working on his cues like 'Sit' and 'Wait' in a new place.

It's vital that assistance dogs are not distracted when with their partners. If you want to say hello, always ask for permission first. Tasha's phrase for #SignLanguageWeek is 'Am I allowed to pet your dog?', which in British Sign Language is 'Your dog I allowed pet?'

Amber has some amazing news to share... She's passed her Puppy 1 Star ⭐ She's done a brilliant job learning her basic cues like 'Sit', 'Down' and 'Wait'. Next up, Amber will work on her recall and impulse control as she heads into her Puppy 2 Star. Well done Team Amber 🥰

It's day three of #SignLanguageWeek and Tasha Stones is here with a phrase in British Sign Language that a deaf person may sign to you. If someone signs 'Can you repeat that?' or 'Again?' it's really important that you do to make sure everyone feels included in the conversation.
